Job description

Quality Control Inspector, Rebar Fabrication Shop
The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for ensuring fabricated reinforcing steel meets customer specifications, shop drawings, and applicable quality standards. This position performs dimensional and visual inspections throughout the fabrication process to verify accuracy before material is released for shipment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect rebar bends, bend angles, and radii to ensure compliance with shop drawings and project specifications.
  • Verify shear cut lengths using precision measuring tools.
  • Transfer and verify heat numbers to maintain material traceability throughout the fabrication process.
  • Perform in-process inspections on the shop floor to identify and correct quality issues before production is completed.
  • Use tape measures, protractors, carpenter squares, and radius templates to verify dimensions and fabrication accuracy.
  • Inspect threaded rebar using thread gauges and Go/No-Go (Min/Max) gauges to ensure thread quality and proper fit.
  • Accurately document inspection results and report nonconforming materials to production and management.
  • Work closely with production personnel to resolve quality concerns while maintaining production schedules.
  • Ensure all inspections are performed in accordance with company quality standards, customer specifications, and applicable industry requirements.
  • Maintain calibration awareness and proper care of inspection equipment.

Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience in quality inspection within a fabrication, manufacturing, or steel production environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and specifications.
  • Proficient in the use of precision measuring and inspection tools, including:
    • Tape measures
    • Protractors
    • Carpenter squares
    • Radius templates
    • Thread gauges
    • Go/No-Go (Min/Max) gauges
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to accurately record inspection data and maintain material traceability.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work with production personnel to resolve quality issues.
