Job description

Entry-Level Quality Inspector

Company: Road & Rail Services
Pay: $20.00 per hour
Job Type: Full-Time
Schedule: Wednesday–Sunday, 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
Work Environment: On-site and primarily outdoors
Experience: No previous vehicle-inspection experience required-training provided

Start a Career in Vehicle Quality Inspection

Road & Rail Services is hiring a dependable, detail-oriented Quality Inspector to inspect vehicles, document transportation-related damage, and enter inspection information into customer reporting systems.

This entry-level opportunity is a strong fit for someone who notices small details, works accurately with computers, and is comfortable performing inspections outdoors. You will receive training on our inspection procedures, damage-reporting requirements, and data-entry systems.

This is not a mechanical repair position. Your primary focus will be inspecting vehicles, verifying reported damage, maintaining accurate records, and helping ensure each vehicle is properly documented before the process is completed.

What You'll Need

To be considered for this position, you must have:

A valid driver's license

Basic experience using Microsoft Office programs

The ability to enter information accurately and follow established procedures

Dependable attendance and availability for the Wednesday–Sunday schedule

A safety-first approach to working around vehicles and rail equipment

The ability to work independently while also contributing to a team

Willingness and ability to perform duties outdoors in changing weather conditions

The ability to safely access and work on or around railcars

Previous inspection, automotive, transportation, logistics, or data-entry experience may be helpful, but it is not required.

Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities

As a Quality Inspector, you will help confirm that vehicle damage is identified, verified, and reported correctly. Your responsibilities will include:

Examining vehicles for damage that may have occurred during transportation

Recording inspection findings clearly and accurately

Verifying previously reported vehicle damage on and off railcars

Entering damage documentation into original equipment manufacturer reporting websites

Reporting applicable damage information through the BNSF system

Helping control or monitor access to designated areas until vehicle repairs are completed

Communicating damage findings or documentation concerns to the appropriate team members

Following all company, customer, and industry safety requirements

Completing additional operational duties assigned by management

Attention to detail is essential because your inspection records and data entries help support accurate damage reporting and vehicle-processing decisions.

Work Environment

This position is performed primarily outdoors at an active rail and vehicle-processing facility. Employees should be prepared to work in heat, cold, wind, rain, and other changing weather conditions.

You must be comfortable working around vehicles and rail equipment, following designated access procedures, and wearing all required personal protective equipment.

Pay and Benefits

Road & Rail Services offers $20.00 per hour along with a comprehensive employee benefits package that includes:

Medical and dental insurance

401(k) retirement plan with company matching

Paid holidays and vacation time

Annual steel-toe boot allowance

Company-provided personal protective equipment

Training for the position

Opportunities for advancement within the company

We are a veteran-friendly employer and believe in recognizing hardworking, dependable employees by providing opportunities to grow from within.
