Our client, a world-leading Pharmaceutical Company in Pearl River, NY is currently looking for an Scientist to join their expanding team.
 
Job Title: Scientist / Bioassay development (MSD / ELISA)
Duration: 12 months contract, extendable up to 48 months
Location: Pearl River, NY

Position Update – Must Have Requirements
Position Type: Lab Associate Bench Scientist - II (Lab Based)
Work Location: 100% On Site (No remote or hybrid option)
Schedule: 5 days per week, on site
 
Role Overview
This is a laboratory based role supporting assay development activities. The ideal candidate will be slightly above entry level, with hands on laboratory experience and strong interpersonal skills. This is not a QC lab role; work will involve novel and evolving methods, requiring adaptability and a strong learning mindset.

Must Have Technical Skills
Hands on experience running ELISA assays
Experience with MSD platform preferred (ELISA experience acceptable if MSD is not available)
Strong basic laboratory skills, including:
Pipetting
Buffer preparation
General lab techniques and documentation
Ability to follow experimental protocols and ask appropriate scientific questions

Preferred / Plus Skills
Experience with assay development concepts (e.g., antibody titration, optimization, sub saturating conditions)
Experience preparing and characterizing reagents:
Antibody biotinylation
HABA assay or equivalent techniques
Familiarity with laboratory automation (e.g., Hamilton, Integra, or similar systems)
Experience using or exposure to LIMS / electronic lab notebooks
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
Familiarity with AI tools (e.g., Copilot) is a plus
 
Experience Level
Targeting 2–4 years of relevant lab experience

Bench Scientists differ from lab assistants in that they are responsible for the execution and interpretation of scientific protocols, often working closely with research leads to inform decision-making.
 
Job Responsibilities:
Conduct laboratory experiments using established scientific methods to support research and development objectives.
Prepare and analyse samples using appropriate instrumentation and techniques.
Document experimental procedures, results, and observations in compliance with GLP and internal standards. Collaborate with scientists and project teams to troubleshoot issues and interpret data.
 
Skills:
Proficiency in laboratory techniques and instrumentation relevant to the scientific discipline.
Ability to follow and adapt scientific protocols with attention to detail.
Strong documentation and data interpretation skills.
Effective communication and collaboration within multidisciplinary teams.
 
Education/Experience:
Degree in a scientific discipline such as Chemistry, Biology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field. 2-4 years experience required.
