The Corcoran Studio Arts Lighting Studio + Checkout are located at the Flagg Building - 500 17th ST NW. This studio primarily supports photography and studio arts students.
Position Specific Summary
This position supports the Corcoran lighting studio, Flagg equipment checkout, and the print service bureau.
Lighting Studio:
  • Monitor and provide access to reservations
  • Hands on assistance and trouble-shooting
  • Change large seamless backdrops
  • Check in/out lighting gear

Equipment Checkout
  • Equipment from various departments located in B-117
  • Utilize web checkout system
  • Track and maintain inventory
  • Gear checkouts for students/faculty/and staff

Print Service Bureau
  • Between reservations support the print service bureau
  • Utilize PaperCut to print wide format student projects
  • B-137

Standard Position Description
The student will perform basic laboratory duties and maintain supplies and stocks/inventory. Tasks may include: assisting in specific projects being completed in the lab, cleaning equipment, assisting and monitoring lab usage. Special projects or other duties may be assigned related to specific departmental needs.

Required Qualifications
This is an entry level position, little to no experience required, all training will be provided (Students working in an instructional capacity should be very familiar with the subject area in which they are working).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Technicians should be organized, fastidious, detail-oriented, and have excellent people skills.
  • Extreme attention to detail is a must.
  • General working knowledge of digital cameras and experience with photographic lighting is preferred but not required.
