Job description

Electrical Design Engineer – Power & Magnetics (Entry-Level / Early Career)

Southeastern Wisconsin | Onsite

Build It. Test It. Learn It. Own It.

Most early-career engineering roles put you in a corner.

This one doesn't.

Our client is a specialized engineering and manufacturing company that designs and builds custom power solutions used in real-world applications across industrial automation, medical technology, and advanced systems.

You won't just support someone else's work.

You'll be involved in it.

You'll learn how magnetics actually work—not just in theory, but in real products. You'll spend time in the lab. You'll work alongside experienced engineers. And you'll see designs go from concept to production.

If you want to accelerate your learning and build real engineering skills, this is that opportunity.

What You'll Do:

  • Support the design of magnetic components (transformers, inductors, chokes) used in power conversion systems
  • Assist with translating requirements into practical, manufacturable designs
  • Build and test prototypes in a lab environment
  • Work alongside senior engineers on design validation and troubleshooting
  • Support manufacturing with product releases and production issues
  • Help troubleshoot field and production problems
  • Learn core magnetics principles through hands-on work
  • Contribute to continuous improvement in design and testing processes

What You Bring:

  • Background in Electrical Engineering or related field (degree helpful, not required)
  • Exposure to one or more of the following:
  • Power electronics
  • Switch Mode Power Supplies (SMPS)
  • Circuit design or hardware development
  • Interest in hands-on engineering (lab work, testing, building)
  • Basic understanding of electrical fundamentals:
  • Circuits, power, signals
  • Willingness to learn magnetics design (transformers, inductors)
  • Ability to take direction and learn quickly in a fast-paced environment

Important to Know:

  • This is not a pure desk or simulation role
  • You will spend time in the lab and working with hardware
  • You will be expected to learn quickly and take on more responsibility over time
  • You will be working alongside experienced engineers who will help develop your skills

What Will Set You Apart:

  • Hands-on project work (school, internship, personal builds)
  • Experience with lab equipment and testing
  • Exposure to power electronics or hardware design
  • Curiosity and willingness to ask questions and learn

Who Thrives Here:

  • Engineers who want to learn by doing
  • People who prefer hands-on work over theory-only roles
  • Individuals who want broad exposure, not narrow specialization early on
  • Practical problem-solvers

Why Make the Move:

  • Learn magnetics from experienced engineers
  • Work on real products—not just simulations
  • Gain exposure across design, testing, and manufacturing
  • Build skills faster in a smaller, hands-on team
  • See the impact of your work

Compensation & Location:

  • Base salary: $70,000 – $100,000 (depending on experience)
  • Bonus potential included
  • Location: Milwaukee, WI (north suburbs – Ozaukee County)
  • Onsite role
  • Relocation support may be available
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future sponsorship

Apply now to be considered.

Qualified candidates will be contacted directly to discuss the role and next steps.
