Job description

Systel Careers – Industrial Engineer – Sugar Land, TX

Systel’s business is growing, and with it comes increased production and a broader range of complex, aerospace-focused products. The Industrial Engineer designs, implements, and refines manufacturing systems to ensure products are built efficiently, safely, and to the highest quality standards. This role bridges the gap between product design and physical production by transforming engineering blueprints into scalable manufacturing workflows.

Who You Are

The ideal candidate brings a wealth of practical floor experience, allowing them to instantly spot bottlenecks and implement lean manufacturing methodologies. Working closely with cross‑functional teams, this position drives continuous improvement initiatives, optimizes facility layouts, and integrates new machinery or automation tools to support production goals.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Process Optimization: Analyze production workflows to eliminate waste, reduce cycle times, and improve overall manufacturing efficiency using lean methodologies.
  • Floor Layout Design: Design and update facility layouts, workstation ergonomics, and material flow paths to maximize space utilization and worker safety.
  • Capacity Planning: Conduct time studies, establish labor standards, and analyze equipment capacity to balance production lines and meet demand schedules.
  • Tooling and Equipment: Specify, procure, and oversee the installation of manufacturing equipment, fixtures, and specialized tooling for the assembly floor.
  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Partner with quality control, supply chain, and design engineering to transition new products smoothly from prototype to full production.
Education and Experience
  • Minimum Requirement: Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Core Experience: Ten or more years of professional experience in industrial engineering or manufacturing engineering within a complex production environment.
  • Hands On Expertise: Extensive time spent on the production floor directly implementing process improvements, troubleshooting assembly lines, and collaborating with technicians.
  • Industry Domain: Proven experience in the aerospace or automotive sectors, with a deep understanding of standard manufacturing regulations, strict quality systems, and production tracking.
  • Ruggedized Computing: Experience working with the assembly and testing ruggedized computing hardware or highly durable electronics is a major asset.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be comfortable staying active on their feet while working on the production floor to support daily operation needs.
