Job description

SHOP HELPER:

POSITION SUMMARY:

This is an entry level position. Under the direction of the Service Manager, the Shop Helper is to provide service, repair, and modifications to the customer and company owned brands of equipment we represent. The Shop Helper is also responsible for assisting Service Technicians with repairs, and other essential job functions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

? Assist Service Technicians with repairs as needed.

? Work to gain basic knowledge of equipment’s various systems as well as mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.

? Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment issues and make repairs in a timely manner.

? Maintain attendance, punctuality, and meeting deadlines.

? Accepts accountability for results; self-motivated.

QUALIFICATIONS

? High school education is required.

? Welding or pneumatic experience is a plus.

? Experience in the infrastructure industry is a plus.

? Provide own hand tools up to 2-inch combination wrenches, socket wrenches, ½ drive air impact, air drill, air die cutter, and multimeter is a plus.

? Ability to communicate effectively by telephone, in written/email form, and verbally.

? Ability to work well in a team environment by developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and maintaining them.

? Ability to read and write English and use simple math.

? Using computer systems, and cell phone applications to obtain, enter, and process data.

? Proficient in the use of MS Outlook

? Ability to work in ambient weather conditions while repairing equipment.

? Ability to work Monday to Friday from 7:00AM to 5:00PM and overtime as needed.

? Must be reachable by phone after hours.

? Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record; background and driving record check required.

? Ability to perform special projects as needed by the company.

? Ability to read computer displays, PDF files, or catalogs to determine replacement parts

? The ability to lift 50 pounds.

? The ability to stand and kneel for long periods of time while repairing equipment.

? The ability to work in tight and confined spaces.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

While performing the duties of this job the employee is:

? Regularly drive a forklift or company provided vehicles.

? Must be able to: talk and hear, stand, sit, walk on both paved and uneven surfaces; use hands to finger,

handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

? Climb ladders, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

? Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

? Able to sit for long periods at a time while driving to job sites.

? Sufficient hearing to be aware of traffic, warning signals, passenger stop indicator, passenger requests.

? Able to use both hands and both feet concurrently.

? Able to safely reach all controls and have good visibility in all directions while seated in the driver's seat.

? Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions, including heat; risk of electrical shock; and vibration.
