Job Summary
Evaluates client needs, conceptualizes ideas, and creates visual designs using sophisticated computer equipment and software programs to produce artwork for marketing materials within established budgets.
Graphic Designers
  • Execute innovative and creative ideas for page layouts, catalog covers, web homepages, web banners, and other promotional materials in collaboration with designers and art directors
  • Manage projects from initial client contact through final delivery
  • Ensure brand consistency across all marketing channels
  • Understand brand goals, key initiatives, promotions, and project performance as they relate to layout, product selection, copy, and overall design
  • Apply established creative and brand standards
  • Make revisions, updates, and changes to design, copy, and layout as needed
  • Collaborate with marketing and merchandising teams to produce high-quality deliverables
  • Proof all pages for accuracy and implement last-minute design and copy changes prior to pre-press production
  • Support the catalog pre-press production process before sending materials to the printer
  • Utilize design and media software (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, After Effects) to create deliverables

Graphic Designer, I
Requires basic skill set and proficiency. Conducts work assignments as directed. Closely supervised with little latitude for independent judgment.
Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 2 years of directly related work experience or a master's (or equivalency) degree.
Graphic Designer, II
Requires moderate skill set and proficiency in discipline. Conducts work assignments of increasing complexity, under moderate supervision with some latitude for independent judgment.
Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 4 years or a master's (or equivalency) + 2 years of directly related work experience.
Minimum Qualifications
EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor's degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).
Department may hire employee at one of the following job levels:
Graphic Designer, I: Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 2 years of directly related work experience or a master's (or equivalency) degree.
Graphic Designer, II: Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 4 years or a master's (or equivalency) + 2 years of directly related work experience.
