Job description

Position Summary

The Quality Supervisor is a site-level role responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality products and services through structured testing, process improvement, and cross-functional collaboration. This role blends hands-on quality oversight with quality planning, data analysis, problem solving, and stakeholder communication, while directly supervising hourly or non-exempt production support roles. The Quality Supervisor defines quality standards, identifying defects and root causes, drives continuous improvement across site operations, and leads to the daily execution of quality activities through the team. 

SCOPE/SUPERVISION AND INTERACTION:

Interfaces with Product Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality Departments.

Responsibilities

  • Interprets customer, regulatory, and Parker PQP requirements; translates requirements into site-level quality plans, controls, and acceptance criteria.  
  • Owns deployment and governance of PQP tools and quality procedures at the site; evaluates effectiveness and drives corrective actions for gaps:

    • Drive to Parker Quality Process (PQP) methodologies and principles through deployment of PQP tools within the site.  

    • Leads the creation or updating of FMEAs, Control Plans, Work Instructions and related documentation under guidance.

    • Performs Measurement System Analysis (MSA) activities (e.g., gage R&R) and support calibration compliance.

  • Audits and drives improvement in inspection reporting to requirements and data integrity controls; utilizes inspection outcomes to identifies systemic issues, implements and drive a plan to solve or improve the inspection process:

    • Collect, review, and maintain inspection records; log nonconformances; generate routine quality reports.

    • Oversees the incoming, in-process, and final inspection activities.  Drives decisions around quality inspections to ensure they meet requirements. 

  • Leads containment strategy and cross-functional root cause investigations; determines appropriate analytical tools and drives CAPA selection, implementation, and effectiveness verification.:

    • Ensures containment, root cause analysis (e.g., 5-Why, fishbone), and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).

    • Owns and tracks action item completion for effective verification with the responsible functions.

  • Analyzes site quality performance using SPC and KPI dashboards; identifies special causes and systemic risk, sets investigation priorities, and drives improvement actions with stakeholders

  • Owns elements of the site QMS documentation framework; establishes document control expectations and ensures readiness for customer/regulatory/ISO audits.

  • Plans and leads internal audit activities within assigned scope; represent the site during external audits and drives corrective action plans for findings.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally across the location:

    • Participate as a team member on site-level projects; communicate status in all directions within the location or division, creates containment actions for risks.

    • Strong communication stakeholders to enable resource alignment and timely completion of project.

    • Coordinate with primary functions (e.g., Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, or Supply Chain) to resolve issues.

  • Adhere to compliance and safety standards:

    • Follow Parker policies, procedures, and applicable quality management system requirements.

    • Promote a culture of quality, safety, and continuous improvement.

  • People Leadership and Daily Supervision

    • Provides day-to-day leadership for hourly or non-exempt production support roles.
    • Assigns and prioritizes daily work for inspectors, technicians, and other quality support personnel based on production needs and risk.
    • Coaches, trains, and develop team members to ensure consistency in inspection methods, documentation, and adherence to procedures.
    • Supports performance management activities including feedback, attendance follow-up, and development planning in alignment with site leadership practices.
    • Ensures adequate floor coverage and responsiveness to production quality issues during daily operations.

Qualifications

  • Education and Experience:
    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent practical experience

    • Minimum of 2 years of experience in quality analysis or software testing (manual and/or automated)

    • 1 year of experience leading or supervising hourly or non-exempt employees preferred.

  • American Society for Quality certification desired.
  • Thorough knowledge of state-of-the-art inspection and quality inspection and quality engineering/assurance techniques, procedures,
    instruments, equipment, theories, principles and concepts and general business operations.
  • Ability to effectively assess and implement continuous improvement techniques to quality and manufacturing functions.
  • Ability to use standard business applications software and/or specialized data analysis tools.
  • Ability to establish goals and objectives that align with strategic goals.  Drive the team execution to complete goals and objectives timely.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and present information to team members, team leaders and top management.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to effectively demonstrate leadership competencies and participate in goal-setting, performance feedback, employee development, and accountability activities.
  • Six Sigma and Lean tools experience is desired.
  • Experience in maintaining and improving QS9000/ISO900 and TSI6949 Systems is desired.
