Job description

Job Title:          Safety Coordinator

Client:              Heavy Machine Manufacturing Company

Duration:          1 Year (Possibility of Extension)

Location:          Milan, IL 61264

Shift:                3rd Shift – 11:00 PM to 7:30 AM

Description

Entry-level role within the safety profession. The position requires understanding safety principles and independently applying them to meet regulatory agency and company standards for injury and illness reporting.

Responsible for analyzing Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) metrics to identify improvement opportunities. Reviews new products, equipment, processes, and facilities for potential hazards and regulatory compliance, providing recommendations before implementation. Works closely with safety equipment suppliers.

Supports health and safety programs for Parts Division distribution and manufacturing operations across the USA. Approximately 50% of the shift may be spent on the warehouse floor conducting safety observations, incident investigations, employee interviews, and safety training.

Duties

  • Assist employees and supervisors with injury prevention by identifying and correcting safety hazards and unsafe actions
  • Support development and evaluation of safety processes and programs to maintain a hazard-free workplace
  • Conduct audits to verify compliance with regulations and company policies and report corrective actions to management
  • Develop and deliver safety presentations and training
  • Analyze EHS functional reporting metrics to identify improvement opportunities
  • Review products, equipment, and processes for hazards and regulatory compliance and coordinate with safety equipment suppliers

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in design, implementation, and continuous improvement of hazard-reduction processes
  • Conduct incident investigations and ergonomic reviews and support corrective actions
  • Compile and analyze safety data, documentation, and reports to meet regulatory requirements
  • Support health and safety programs to comply with company standards and applicable laws
  • Manage OSHA safety recordkeeping and internal safety processes
  • Coordinate safety audits, risk assessments, and corrective/preventive actions
  • Review new processes, equipment, and assets for safety compliance
  • Respond to safety-related inquiries and conduct safety training as required

Required Skills

  • Experience in warehousing or manufacturing with a strong safety background
  • Experience developing and delivering safety training
  • Safety degree and/or strong manufacturing safety experience
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite
  • CSP accreditation preferred
  • Metatarsals required on first day (not reimbursable)
