Job description


In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
  • Deliver accurate, production-ready designs by creating and maintaining high-quality drawings and CAD models that clearly communicate engineering intent, reduce ambiguity, and support successful manufacturing and assembly.

  • Improve product quality and reliability by applying Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles that ensure parts fit, function, and perform as intended across production variation.

  • Protect configuration integrity by using CAD data management and configuration control processes to ensure the correct revisions, models, and documentation are available to stakeholders at all times.

  • Drive compliance and consistency by ensuring all specifications adhere to Cummins standards as well as applicable industry, national, and international requirements, reducing risk and supporting global product development.

  • Enable engineering efficiency by processing engineering work requests accurately and promptly, helping teams move projects forward while minimizing delays and rework.

  • Strengthen cross-functional collaboration by working closely with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and other functional teams to resolve design issues, align requirements, and support program objectives.

  • Enhance drawing and model quality through active participation in Drawing Quality Reviews, identifying opportunities for improvement and preventing downstream manufacturing or service issues.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement by helping maintain and refine design standards, best practices, and quality processes, creating long-term value through increased consistency, productivity, and engineering excellence.

Responsibilities
To be successful, you will need to consistently demonstrate the following:
Develop advanced CAD modeling expertise by creating accurate, standards-compliant models that effectively represent design concepts and support analyses such as Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Dimensional Variation Analysis.
Build a deep understanding of mechanical systems so you can develop innovative, robust designs that meet customer requirements across all lifecycle stages, operating conditions, and application environments.
Master engineering drawings, GD&T, and product specifications to clearly communicate design intent through models, bills of materials, and detailed drawings that support manufacturing and inspection.
Become proficient in configuration and change management processes by accurately releasing, tracking, controlling, and documenting engineering changes while maintaining product data integrity throughout the product lifecycle.
Communicate technical information effectively across functions by tailoring your message to engineers, manufacturing teams, quality teams, suppliers, and leadership to ensure alignment and efficient decision-making.
Demonstrate strong decision quality and problem-solving skills by analyzing complex information, evaluating trade-offs, and making timely recommendations that keep projects progressing and reduce risk.
Consistently deliver high-quality results under pressure by managing priorities, meeting commitments, and maintaining attention to detail even when faced with competing deadlines and changing requirements.
Commit to continuous learning, collaboration, and trust-building by seeking feedback, expanding your technical knowledge, valuing diverse perspectives, and establishing credibility through integrity, accountability, and reliable performance.
Education, Licenses, Certifications:
High school diploma, certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience in an appropriate STEM field is required.
Regionally applicable certification or two year Associates Degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant field of study may be required.
This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
Experience:
Requires some work experience and intermediate level knowledge obtained through education, training or on-the-job experience.
