What We Look For In a Architecture Tutor
  • Advanced Subject Mastery: Deep knowledge of architectural design principles, building systems, structural concepts, construction materials, architectural history, drafting and CAD, sustainability principles, and design presentation techniques. Ability to explain spatial design, building codes, environmental design strategies, and architectural drawing conventions while preparing students for architecture school, licensure preparation, and professional design practice.
  • Conceptual Teaching & Problem-Solving: Skilled at teaching design process, spatial thinking, and technical drawing for architecture. Guides students through developing design concepts, creating floor plans and elevations, building physical and digital models, understanding structural systems, and presenting design work through drawings and verbal critiques. Emphasizes integrating aesthetic vision with technical requirements and connects architecture to urban planning, sustainability, and cultural expression.
  • Curriculum Awareness & Adaptive Instruction: Familiar with architecture curricula and common challenges such as developing three-dimensional spatial thinking, mastering drafting conventions, and integrating building systems knowledge into design. Adapts instruction using design projects, sketching exercises, and CAD tutorials to support students from high school portfolio preparation through undergraduate architecture studios and professional licensure examination review.
  • Effective Teaching Methods: Ability to identify concepts students commonly struggle with, explain material using multiple approaches, and adapt instruction to meet individual learning needs and styles.
  • Strong communication skills and a friendly, engaging teaching style.
  • Ability to adapt to different learning styles and student needs.
