Job description

PARR is the total source for homebuilding supplies, solutions, and services. We focus on supplying building materials and solutions to professional home builders of all sizes including custom builders, large production builders, and multifamily builders. Our customers and community members know that they can rely on us for Legendary Service and quality products.

Pay: $19.44-$21.53 hourly
Lumber Yard Associates are responsible for providing legendary service by safely and efficiently loading customer vehicles with building materials both by hand and on a forklift. The Lumber Yard Associate is also responsible for keeping the yards clean and stocking inventory.
This position reports to the General Manager, Assistant Manager, Location Supervisor and works closely with external and internal customers.

Qualifications

  • OSHA Certified Forklift Licensepreferred
  • Ability to speak, write, and read Englishrequired
  • Knowledge of receiving/inventory control principles, practices and protocols
  • Knowledge of dimension lumber and panel products and other building materials
  • Ability to read and interpret "picking tickets" and invoices
  • Ability to concentrate and attend to detail amidst a busy work environment
  • General knowledge and use of power tools

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Safely, accurately and efficiently load customer vehicles with orders of building materials
  • Ensure that appropriate paperwork is completed as per company policy
  • Receive delivered inventory by properly inspecting paperwork for accuracy and by depositing inventory in designated locations
  • Inspects stock and returned items to ensure salable quality
  • Puts stock away in the correct location and nicely
  • Provides required paperwork for change orders
  • Completes inventory adjustments
  • Participates in inventory preparation and post procedures
  • Reads and follows instructions on picking tickets
  • Opens and closes warehouse and yard when necessary
  • Complete Blue-Volt training as necessary
  • Seeks to learn products and applications and attends product knowledge meetings
  • Knows product locations in the yard and warehouse
  • Ability to read a measuring tape
  • Understands product terminology and grading
  • Keeps forklift clean
  • Maintain yard cleanliness during course of work
  • Adhere to company procedures, policies and protocols as set forth in the Employees Handbook Wears high visibility, safety gear, and proper uniform
  • Performs daily lift inspections
  • Always looks behind/honks horn when backing/rounding blind corners
  • Safely operates equipment
  • Promptly report all accidents/incidents and damaged products
  • Perform daily safety audits of forklift and promptly report any malfunctioning equipment
  • Keep aisles and exits clear
  • Attaches red safety flag to over-length product
  • Participates on safety committee if needed
  • Understands weight, height, and length limits to inform customer of being able to safely handle or transport material
  • Consistently follows safety protocols
  • Quickly greets and assists all customers
  • Reviews and completes hold harmless form with customers
  • Shares product knowledge with customers
  • Pulls orders and stages for will calls

This position works outside in a retail lumberyard location in all weather conditions

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift up to 90 lbs.
