Job description

Job Summary:  

Stage coils in sequence to be slit, load coils onto un-coiler and feed strip up to arbor, control strip edges during the slitting process, record in sequence the master coil being slit.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Responsible for keeping Mill supplied with slit coils.
  • Record strip gauge.
  • Operate coil car and turn coil to lean on un-coiler.
  • Check all coils for proper specifications. (heat, grade, gauge, width, supplier)
  • Fill out coil production report.
  • Notify production supervisor of any problems with equipment or production.
  • Assist in roll changes and breakdowns.
  • Identify any quality problems in material.
  • Keep work area and equipment clean and orderly/
  • Maintain safe work procedures.

Minimum Education and/or Experience Requirements:  

Education: High School or equivalent

Years of Experience:  2+ years in a manufacturing environment

  • Mathematical Skills:  Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using while numbers, common fractions and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.   Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Reasoning Ability:  Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Other Skills and Abilities:  Must be computer literate and able to work with programs such as Word, Excel, etc., and be able to learn and use HP programs such as e-mail, ERP system, etc.

Must strip width of various sizes. Operate Forklift & Overhead Crane.
