Laser OperatorPay Rate - $24/hr.+Job Description
This role operates laser tables and related fabrication equipment in a steel manufacturing facility, focusing on close-tolerance work that requires a high degree of precision and technical skill. The laser operator sets up and adjusts machines, supports production on off shifts, and ensures that all orders are processed accurately, safely, and in alignment with organizational standards.
Responsibilities
- Set up, adjust, and operate laser tables and related machines to perform diversified operations on various materials, often working to close tolerances that require a high degree of skill.
- Select appropriate machine speeds and feeds based on material type and job requirements to ensure optimal quality and productivity.
- Determine operational sequences and tooling arrangements to complete work efficiently and accurately.
- Diagnose and resolve tooling problems and machine malfunctions to minimize downtime and maintain production flow.
- Set up machines for operation by other team members, ensuring proper configuration and clear instructions.
- Prepare orders by processing requests and work orders, pulling materials, and packaging and staging orders for delivery.
- Maintain quality service by following established organizational standards and procedures.
- Maintain a safe, orderly, and clean work environment in accordance with facility safety guidelines.
- Complete work orders by entering required production and operational information into the appropriate systems or documentation.
Essential Skills
- At least 2 years of production operating experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- At least 1 year of laser operation experience, including setup and operation of laser tables.
- Proficiency in machine operation, including setting up, adjusting, and running production equipment.
- Ability to work with close tolerances and maintain high levels of accuracy and quality.
- Skill in selecting appropriate speeds, feeds, and tooling for different materials and operations.
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot tooling issues and machine malfunctions.
- Experience preparing and processing work orders, including pulling materials and staging orders.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work area.
- Familiarity with laser fabrication processes and related equipment, such as Bystronic laser systems.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working in a steel manufacturing or fabrication environment.
- Comfort working independently on off shifts while supporting a production team.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established standards and procedures.
- Basic data entry skills to complete work orders and record production information.
- Willingness to learn and cross-train on additional fabrication equipment as needed.

Work Environment
This position is based in a non-climate-controlled steel manufacturing and fabrication facility located at 3200 Fairfax Traffic Way in Kansas City, KS. You will work around industrial equipment, including laser tables and related fabrication machinery, in a production-floor setting. The role is for an off shift, specifically 2nd shift, with hours from 1:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. The environment requires adherence to standard industrial safety practices, including the use of appropriate personal protective equipment and attire suitable for a manufacturing floor.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00/hr.
