Job description

Overview

Quiddity Engineering is seeking a motivated and dependable Field Surveyor to join our Survey team in Lakeland, Florida. This entry-level position provides an excellent opportunity to begin a career in land surveying while working alongside experienced survey professionals on boundary surveys, topographic surveys, construction staking, and other field data collection projects. 

Under the direction of a Survey Crew Chief, the Field Surveyor will assist with daily field operations, operate survey equipment, collect and record data, and support the successful completion of surveying projects throughout the region. 

Responsibilities
  • Assist the Survey Crew Chief with daily survey field operations. 
  • Set up and operate survey equipment and instruments as directed. 
  • Assist with boundary, topographic, construction staking, and other survey-related fieldwork. 
  • Hold and position level rods, prisms, and other survey targets to support data collection. 
  • Communicate rod height and measurement information accurately to the Crew Chief. 
  • Read and record measurements using tapes, rods, and survey instruments. 
  • Mark survey points using stakes, nails, paint, hubs, and other survey markers. 
  • Clear brush, vegetation, and minor obstacles along survey lines as needed. 
  • Download, upload, and transmit field data using survey software and wireless technology. 
  • Properly load, unload, maintain, and organize survey equipment and vehicles. 
  • Assist with equipment checks and ensure vehicles are stocked and prepared for daily assignments. 
  • Notify the Crew Chief of field conditions, equipment issues, or project concerns. 
  • Learn and apply Quiddity's survey procedures, data collection methods, and coding standards. 
  • Develop an understanding of various survey types and industry best practices. 
  • Safely operate company vehicles when required and travel to project sites in urban, suburban, and rural environments. 
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED preferred. 
  • Valid Florida driver's license with a satisfactory driving record. 
  • Ability to read and follow written instructions and communicate effectively with team members. 
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail. 
  • Ability to work outdoors for extended periods in varying weather conditions. 
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including carrying equipment, digging, and clearing vegetation. 
  • Ability to routinely walk several miles per day over uneven terrain and stand for extended periods. 
  • Willingness to travel locally to project sites and work overtime when needed. 
  • Familiarity with survey equipment, GPS, robotic total stations, or data collectors is a plus. 
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check.
