Job Summary: Our Utility Structures Division is looking for entry level welders and are responsible to assist the Senior Welder with daily tasks while learning the process and plans to advance. This position travels Monday-Friday and is generally home on the weekends.  
Reports to: Foreman
Essential Functions:
  • Learn from senior welder
  • Prep areas to receive welding
  • Keep Senior Welder supplied with tools and necessities
  • Read and interpret blueprints
  • Assist welders in cleaning up work sites and setting up welding equipment
  • Set up and operate hand and power tools particular to the welding trade
  • Prepare all material surfaces that need to weld and ensure that there is no rust or dust on them
  • Position and align parts that need to be welded according to the Specifications
  • Keep track of materials, tools, and equipment needed for welding projects and inform supervisor in case of shortages
  • Set up ladders and scaffolding for special cases
  • Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety

Additional Responsibilities:
  • Come with a small assortment of tools of trade
  • Digging with hand shovel or bar to expose live utilities, heavy lifting, climbing into and out of trenches, handling forms, placing concrete.  
  • Accomplishes all other duties and tasks as appropriately assigned or requested.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Ability to pass and maintain a current DOT physical
  • Valid drivers license
  • Have no lifting or physical restrictions
  • OSHA 10 Certification strongly preferred
  • Communicate effectively and respectfully with the public and clients
  • Work outdoors year-round in all types of weather
  • Demonstrate safe and proper use and maintenance of all company tools and equipment

Compensation:
  • $25.00-$27.00 per hour based on experience
    • Employees receive a generous per diem for the week to cover hotels and food, in addition to their hourly wage. Weekly per diem checks issued where room and board are applicable.
