Job Summaryย 

The Field Technician (level 1) role is an entry-level water & sewer technician position. Duties include assisting with pipe repairs, landscaping, minor road repairs, after-hours support, and general labor activities.

Responsibilitiesย 

  • Review service orders to determine locations where meter readings need to be performedย 

  • Read water meters and enter data in route logsย 

  • Maintains required paperwork and logs in compliance with Federal, State and local rules and regulationsย 

  • Inspect meters and connections to determine defects, faults and damagesย 

  • Repairs and/or replaces broken water mains and service linesย ย 

  • Communicate problems with meters or incorrect readings to the Supervisor & Project Managerย 

  • Operates a company vehicle to conduct meter readings for assigned routeย ย 

  • Connect and disconnect utility services as directedย ย 

  • Ensure that all data in the utility log book is maintained correctly, and kept updatedย 

  • Perform general landscape maintenance including mowing, trimming, clean-ups, pruning, and other typical landscape maintenance tasksย 

  • Performs other related duties as directedย

Job Qualificationsย 

  • High school diploma or GEDย 

  • Valid driverโ€™s license and acceptable Motor Vehicle Records are requiredย 

  • 1-year experience in water distribution, maintenance or servicing industry preferred but not required

  • Ability to work independentlyย 

  • Ability to understand water systems and conceptsย 

  • Strong attention to detailย 

  • Must be available to work weekends, overtime and โ€˜on-callโ€™ as neededย
