Job description

The Maintenance Technician II performs maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of facility systems and production equipment to support safe and efficient distribution operations. This role applies technical expertise to diagnose issues, complete repairs, and improve equipment reliability while supporting continuous improvement and mentoring less experienced team members.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on distribution center systems and equipment.
  • Inspect, diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and control systems.
  • Maintain and repair equipment including conveyors, PIT systems, HVAC, building systems, compactors, generators, and compressors.
  • Calibrate, test, and validate equipment performance to ensure proper operation.
  • Install, assemble, relocate, and modify equipment and distribution center systems as needed.
  • Maintain and repair high-density storage racking and distribution center infrastructure.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Monitor system performance and recommend repairs, upgrades, or equipment changes.
  • Support analysis of equipment performance and assist in equipment lifecycle decisions.
  • Complete and document work orders accurately in CMMS systems.
  • Maintain maintenance logs, inspection reports, and parts inventory documentation.
  • Support root cause analysis efforts for equipment failures and recurring issues.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including OSHA standards, LOTO, and PPE requirements.
  • Identify and address unsafe conditions to help promote a safe work environment.
  • Support environmental compliance, waste handling, and recycling processes.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to entry-level technicians and other various team members.
  • Respond to emergency maintenance issues and equipment failures as needed.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in safe and organized condition.

SKILLS/EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/ABILITIES

Required:
  • Associate's degree or equivalent technical training or certification.
  • 7-12 months of experience in maintenance, facilities, or industrial operations.
  • Limited experience coordinating work or guiding team members (0-3 months).
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair industrial equipment and facility systems.
  • Experience working with HVAC, plumbing, lighting, and building systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Familiarity with PLC systems and basic controls troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Experience with CMMS platforms and maintenance documentation.
  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
  • Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple maintenance tasks.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures, including OSHA standards and LOTO practices.
  • Ability to maintain a safe, compliant, and organized work environment.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with team members.
  • Ability to provide guidance and support to less experienced technicians
