Job description

Position Summary

The South Berkeley Fire District is currently accepting applications for a Volunteer Firefighter. This position is an entry level position and applies to volunteer personnel who are new to the Department. All personnel will be required to complete six (6) months of probation regardless of their level of training. The Volunteer Firefighter is responsible for responding to emergency calls relating to fires, hazardous materials, rescues, emergency medical incidents, perform station duties as assigned by the supervisor, and supporting the districtโ€™s mission of protecting life and property.

Shift Schedule: Required to work at least 48 hours per month upon completion of your preliminary course of training.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Respond to fire, EMS, rescue, and related emergency incidents
  • Conduct apparatus checks, maintenance, and documentation
  • Participate in required training, drills, and continuing education
    • Volunteer Training meetings are held on Tuesday evening and Saturday morning.
    • Members are expected to attend 50% of the scheduled training meetings.
  • Maintain compliance with District policies, SOPs, and safety standards
