P3R, the engine behind Pittsburgh's most transformative sporting events including DICK'S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon Weekend, is seeking a Manager, Growth Marketing. This role will report to Senior Manager, Marketing & Communications and will play a vital role in the growth of P3R's brand through marketing and communications efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
Growth Marketing
  • Drive measurable and sustainable growth across the full customer lifecycle from first touchpoint to retention
  • Develop retention and re-engagement campaigns to drive repeat participation year over year
  • Track conversion and channel performance across multiple platforms, including but not limited to paid and organic social media, paid search, email marketing, advertising, SMS
  • Research and map untapped participant pools, including but not limited to local run clubs, fitness centers, corporate wellness programs, and community organizations, working collaboratively with teammates on targeted outreach and acquisition campaigns to convert them
  • Translate data into actionable plans

GEO (Generative Engine Optimization)
  • Develop and execute a GEO strategy to ensure our events and content are accurately surfaced and cited by AI answer engines (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini, Google AI Overviews)
  • Stay ahead of evolving best practices for AI search visibility, testing new tactics as generative engines and their ranking behaviors evolve
  • Work collaboratively with digital marketing, content, public relations and partnership sales team members to publish authoritative, citation-worthy content (event guides, results pages, athlete profiles, FAQs), owning day-to-day maintenance of P3R's five websites

Event Support
  • Coordinate day-of logistics for marketing activations, run of show, sponsor visibility, and participant touchpoints at P3R events
  • Assist with capturing content (photos, video, participant stories) for use in post-event marketing and future acquisition campaigns

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Economics or related field

Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong analytical skills; comfortable building reports and making data-driven decisions
  • Experience with audience research and segmentation
  • Experience with CRM/lifecycle tools (HubSpot, Salesforce, Zoho, or similar)
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Working knowledge of SEO fundamentals and genuine curiosity or early experience with GEO/AI search optimization (this is a new and evolving field, ability to learn and experiment is highly desirable)
  • Attendance at P3R-owned and managed events is an essential function of this position. This includes, but is not limited to, race weekends, expos, community outreach events, and other organizational activities. Event schedules may require early mornings, evenings and weekends.
