JOB SUMMARY
The Banquet Houseman performs the overnight setup, breakdown, and deep cleaning of banquet and meeting spaces in accordance with Banquet Event Orders and a nightly assignment-and-log sheet issued by the Assistant Banquet Manager. The role operates asynchronously and with significant autonomy during overnight hours, requiring strong self-direction, verbose written logging, and physical endurance across an 8-hour shift. The Houseman is the primary overnight presence in the banquet department and is responsible for ensuring all assigned spaces are event-ready by the start of morning service.
Candidates must be physically capable of repeatedly lifting and carrying tables in excess of 40 lbs., moving and stacking chairs, and walking long distances within the property over the course of a shift. The role is subject to random in-shift check-ins, an unpaid 30-minute break per shift, and routine cross-departmental coordination with Night Audit. No overtime is expected.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Event Space Setup and Breakdown: Set and break banquet rooms per BEO specifications, including tables, seating, linens, staging, and ancillary furniture; transport equipment between storage and event spaces using available carts and dollies or by hand when necessary.
Cleaning and Detail Work: Vacuum, mop, polish, spot-clean carpets, fold linens, and deep clean banquet storage and event areas to standard between events.
Logging and Cross-Departmental Reporting: Complete the combined assignment and log sheet with accurate, verbose entries on completed and incomplete tasks; submit to Night Audit for record capture and into the banquet leadership drop box at end of shift; escalate urgent issues to Night Audit or the Manager on Duty in real time.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work environments include BOH banquet storage areas, ballrooms, prefunction spaces, breakout rooms, outdoor venues, and the 10th/11th-floor rooftop bar. The role is physically demanding and includes, but is not limited to, repeated heavy lifting (40+ lbs.), carrying of tables, navigation of stacked equipment around corners, and walking several hundred feet between spaces while transporting equipment. Exposure to wet surfaces, cleaning chemicals, and temperature variation is routine. Shifts run overnight, typically between 9:00 PM and 8:00 AM, with an unpaid 30-minute break required.
Uniform is self-provided: black pants, black shirt, black shoes. Slip-resistant shoes are required.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Physical stamina and strength sufficient for sustained repetitive lifting, carrying, and walking across an 8-hour overnight shift
- Strong written communication for accurate, verbose logging and exception reporting on the combined assignment and log sheet
- Self-direction, reliability, and the ability to prioritize tasks against BEO turn times with minimal supervision
- Ability to read and execute BEO room diagrams and setup specifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High school education or equivalent experience
- Demonstrated physical capacity to lift and move 40+ lbs repeatedly across a shift
- Ability to work overnight hours and maintain flexible start and end times
