Position Summary

The plant nurse practitioner is the manager of the Medical Department with administrative duties and responsibilities in the direction of assigned staff and in support of plant goals and objectives. He or she must be qualified to provide advice and counsel to plant management on matters of occupational health as described in the Health Services Manual


This is a PRN position in the Kokomo, IN locations 


Essential Functions

  • The on-site occupational provider shall be licensed to practice medicine in the State where he or she is assigned, preferably Board Certified in Occupational Medicine, or leading toward certification with three years of experience in Occupational Medicine.
  • Each on-site occupational provider will be the leader of their respective medical department with attendant administrative duties and responsibilities in the direction of the assigned staff. The provider must be qualified to provide advice and counsel to management on matters of Occupational Health, as described in the Stellantis Health Services Manual. The RNs are managed by Corporate Medical, but ongoing collaboration with the RNs is required.
  • Each on-site occupational provider must support the Scope of Services referenced above.
  • Each on-site occupational provider must be knowledgeable in OSHA record keeping and compliance.
  • Each on-site occupational provider must manage disability and workers compensation cases.
  • Each on-site occupational provider must be able to respond to emergencies anywhere on the plant premises and participate in emergency drills.
  • The on-site occupational provider will provide advisory and consulting services to Plant Management, Chief Physician, and Corporate Medical Operations in a timely manner, and will generally assist Stellantis in Occupational Medicine Services.
  • Each on-site occupational provider has clinical responsibilities for employee health at the respective plant locations, especially as it may be affected by conditions of employment. Their knowledge and understanding, therefore, should encompass not only those methods by which a good provider cares for a sick or injured person, but also the working environment, the materials and processes used and the preventive measures available to protect the health of the workers. The provider can then knowledgeably conduct periodic physical exams to determine work capacity and to monitor the health of workers.
  • Additional responsibilities include assisting in the implementation of medical programs and procedures which are in compliance with federal and state regulatory standards, as further outlined in the Stellantis Health Services Manual.
  • Each on-site occupational provider will be guided in their professional actions by adherence to high standards of professional ethics. In addition, each on-site occupational physician or nurse practitioner is responsible for adherence to all pertinent State and Federal laws governing the practice of medicine or nursing.
  • On-site occupational provider will monitor preventive maintenance on existing and future medical equipment and direct the staff to implement corrective action / repair as required.
  • Providers may be required to provide regular audits of supplies and equipment.
  • Providers will be required to participate in chart audits.
  • Providers may be required to fill in at other local plants to ensure priority coverage.
  • Providers may need to transfer to other local plants to meet business needs.
  • Providers may need to provide support or telemedicine visits to other plants to meet business needs.
  • Providers may be required to attend a health and safety conference annually.
  • Providers must be willing to train in the use of Cority, the electronic medical record system if they are not already proficient.

Final compensation will be based on relevant factors including work experience, skills, certifications, and internal equity.

Requirements

  • Unrestricted IN state license to practice as an NP.
  • 3 years of Occupational Medicine experience as an NP, preferably in an industrial setting, although will accept Emergency Room or Urgent Care experience within the last year.
  • Knowledge of and experience working with OSHA and workers' compensation.
