Job Summary:
Torch Technologies is a 100% employee-owned company providing engineering services to the Federal Government. They are seeking a highly motivated Software Design Engineer 1 to develop and maintain software tools for the Missile Defense Agency, focusing on enhancing analysis and workflow automation.
Responsibilities:
• Design and implement tools and scripts in ServiceNow, Jira, Confluence, and SharePoint to automate data extraction, transformation, and reporting tasks.
• Customize ServiceNow, Jira, and Confluence workflows, templates, and macros to support business processes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand automation requirements and deliver effective software solutions.
• Monitor and improve performance of automation tools and address issues proactively.
• Write clear, maintainable code and supporting documentation.
• Ensure data accuracy, security, and compliance in all automated processes.
• Develop, test, and deploy software solutions while leveraging AI for code suggestions and optimizations.
• Automate repetitive development tasks using AI-driven coding assistants.
• Collaborate with engineers, data scientists, and product managers to improve process workflows.
• Develop user interfaces in ServiceNow, Jira, Confluence, and SharePoint with a focus on usability and user experience.
• Participate in working group meetings, peer reviews, and technical interchange meetings.
• Design, develop, and maintain functional SharePoint sites that are user friendly and aligned with organizational requirements.
• Update site content and maintain platform functionality as required.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement software solutions supporting MDA initiatives.
Qualifications:
Required:
• U.S. Citizenship
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
• Active Secret security clearance
• Good understanding of software development principles, algorithms, and data structures
• Experience with Systems Engineering processes, including requirements collection and development
• Ability to work in an agile development environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams
• Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to explore AI-driven development solutions
• Detail-oriented with a focus on delivering high-quality software solutions
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
Preferred:
• 1–3 years of applicable software development experience
• Experience with user interface design and workflow/process automation
• Experience developing automation tools in ServiceNow, Jira, Confluence, and SharePoint
• Experience with Microsoft Power BI and data visualization
• Experience developing software requirements
• Experience supporting DoD software programs or government contracts
