The key function of the Software Engineer Co-op (Gameplay) is to gain knowledge and experience in building gameplay features and mechanics, and creating tools that support designer and artist workflows. This position works collaboratively with other engineers and teams to maintain code quality and improve content creation pipelines for our game teams.

This role is a 4 month contract from September to December, fully on-site based at our Downtown Vancouver studio.

In this role, you can expect to:
  • Write, test, and maintain code following coding standards and best practices.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members, participate in code reviews, and adhere to established development processes.
  • Debug and solve software issues, using established standards to provide effective solutions.
  • Maintain clear and concise documentation for code and project-related materials.
  • Continuously learn and improve technical skills and knowledge.
  • Communicate progress, challenges, and updates to team members and stakeholders.
  • Adhere to project deadlines and milestones, managing tasks efficiently.
  • Seek mentorship and knowledge sharing as needed, contributing to team growth.
To be successful in this role, your background includes:
  • Is in 3rd or 4th year in a post-secondary Bachelor's program in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Solid understanding of Java, C#, Node.js or C++.
  • Experience working in Unity or similar engines. 
  • Ability to write clean, simple, well-documented code from design requirements.
  • Ability to manage assigned tasks effectively, working both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic team setting.
  • Exposure to Android / iOS Mobile application development.
  • Up-to-date knowledge on the latest mobile gaming trends.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical team members.
  • Experience working in Agile, Kanban, or similar project management methodologies.

$26 - $28 an hour

The typical hiring range listed above is specific to candidates located in Vancouver. The pay rate will be determined based on your knowledge, skills and competencies, and you'll have room to grow after you join!
