Position: Motion Designer (Mobile Games / UI Animation / After Effects / Unity Bonus)

Report to: Lead UIUX Motion Designer
Department: 3D SLG Game Team

Hiring Level: Experienced
Location: 8/F, 988 West Broadway, Vancouver, British Columbia V5Z 1K7

Compensation: $60,000 - $75,000 annually(depending on experience and leveling within our UX Motion framework)


Employment Terms:

  • Less than 1 year of relevant experience: Initial 3-month contract
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience: Initial 6 months to 1-year contract
  • More than 3 years of relevant experience: Permanent position

We are looking for a talented and detail-oriented Motion Designer to join our team and help create engaging, polished, and emotionally impactful motion experiences for mobile games.
This role focuses on designing high-quality UI motion, result screen animations, reward presentations, interactive transitions, and visual feedback that enhance player engagement and overall product quality.
The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience in Adobe After Effects, a strong sense of timing, rhythm, visual storytelling, and game UI feedback. Experience recreating or implementing motion design in Unity Animation is a strong plus.


Responsibilities:

  • Design high-quality motion effects for mobile game UI screens, including victory screens, defeat screens, reward screens, pop-ups, transitions, and event interfaces
  • Create polished animations in Adobe After Effects, with strong attention to timing, pacing, rhythm, and emotional impact
  • Communicate different player emotions through motion design, such as celebration, achievement, reward satisfaction, failure, disappointment, urgency, or excitement
  • Work closely with UI/UX designers, game designers, and developers to bring game interface concepts to life
  • Prepare clean and well-organized AE project files that can be reviewed, adjusted, and handed off efficiently
  • Support visual consistency across game features, events, live operations content, and promotional UI
  • Create motion concepts that are suitable for mobile games, especially casual SLG-style products
  • When needed, help explore how AE motion designs can be recreated or implemented in Unity
  • Contribute creative ideas to improve user interaction, player feedback, and emotional engagement through motion design
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the team.


Requirements:

Core Skills

  • 1 + years of professional experience in motion design, UI animation, UX animation, game UI motion, or related roles
  • Strong proficiency in Adobe After Effects
  • Strong understanding of motion design principles, including:
    • Timing
    • Pacing
    • Easing
    • Anticipation
    • Follow-through
    • Impact
    • Visual hierarchy
    • Emotional storytelling
  • Experience creating polished motion graphics for game UI, mobile apps, or interactive digital products
  • Good understanding of mobile game UI presentation, including reward feedback, result screens, pop-ups, buttons, transitions, and visual effects
  • Ability to create motion that feels dynamic, satisfying, and readable on mobile screens
  • Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop for asset preparation, basic image editing, and PSD layer handling
  • Ability to organize AE compositions and layers clearly for production review and handoff


Unity Skills - Nice to have (optional)
Unity experience is not required, but considered a strong plus for candidates who are familiar with game development workflows.
