Your role in our mission
Apply your skills to support Gainwell as we help clients deliver better health and human services outcomes.
  • Under general direction, designs and develops software and modification enhancements to applications through all phases of a system lifecycle.
  • Contributes to the company's success through excellent customer service and meets or exceeds performance objectives.
  • Performs assigned technical duties with minimal supervision.
  • Ensures that all required project documentation, approvals, and transmitted references are complete as required during the project life cycle.
  • Requires the ability to work on an "on call" basis during non-work hours.
  • Designs, builds, and maintains major business programming applications of considerable complexity with a thorough understanding of all parameters affecting and interfacing with the application
  • Analyzes, designs, and validates system requirements for new applications or for changes to existing applications. Applications may have numerous interfaces and span multiple platforms
  • Collaborates with appropriate team members
  • Develops schedules and/or plans for projects or parts of projects and provides input on necessary resources for effective project execution
  • Identifies system design alternatives and implements the appropriate technical design
  • Reviews program code and test results for accuracy and for compliance to specifications and standards
  • Perform complex development or ongoing maintenance and modification
  • Creates test plans and performs testing and debugging
  • Keeps current with the technologies required to enhance and maintain current systems to facilitate most efficient processing
  • Supports the integration, customization, and maintenance of vendor applications
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
  • Establish and maintain positive and effective work relationships with coworkers, clients, and customers
  • Participates in code reviews. Prepares and executes unit tests. Participates as a member of development team.
  • Perform unit design. Configures end-user or enterprise systems.
  • Applies company and 3rd party technologies to software solutions of moderate complexity.

What we're looking for
  • 6+ years' Mainframe experience with CICS, COBOL, JCL, ICEMAN, IDCAMS, EZTrieve, Expeditor.
      • Must have CICS hands on experience creating MAPS. ISPW and Control-M is a plus.
  • Must have DB2 experience. Knowledge of SQL Server and Oracle, preferable
  • Must understand mainframe integration with modern technology.
  • Flexible to changing requirements and ability to handle multiple concurrent assignments
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
