Job description

Overview
This employee performs entry-level preventative maintenance and corrective repair of buildings, industrial systems, equipment, and grounds. Works under close supervision assists in monitoring building systems operations and performance. Utilizes several entry-level trade skills such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, roofing, heating and cooling, sheet finish, and repairing mud and tape holes in the wall.
Qualifications
Health Services Laborer I
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); no exceptions.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT
At least six (6) months of experience in a related field.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
None.
Health Services Laborer II
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT
One-year certificate from college or technical school; or 1-1/2 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT
At least two (2) years of experience in a related field.
COMPUTER SKILLS
An individual should know order processing systems, spreadsheet software, and word processing software.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Certification in welding, locksmith, carpentry, OR Plumbing, HVAC, or Electrical apprentice card. Other applicable certifications may be accepted.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
The employee must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA's List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk or hear, and taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, color vision, and peripheral.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may (regularly, frequently, occasionally) be exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather), work near moving mechanical parts, work in high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outdoor weather conditions, extreme cold (non-weather), extreme heat (non-weather), risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
