An Entry Level TIG Welder is responsible for using Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding techniques to join metal components, often working with stainless steel or aluminum. This role involves reading blueprints, setting up welding equipment, and ensuring high-quality welds with precision and attention to detail. Typically, entry-level positions require basic welding training or certification but may offer on-the-job training. Safety procedures and maintaining welding tools are also key responsibilities. This position is ideal for those looking to start a career in welding and develop their skills over time.
A typical day for an Entry Level Tig Welder involves preparing materials, setting up TIG welding machines, and performing welding tasks based on technical drawings or supervisor instructions. You can expect to work closely with more experienced welders and other team members, often assisting with joint preparation, inspecting finished welds, and maintaining equipment. Some days may focus on repetitive welding tasks, while others involve troubleshooting minor issues or learning new techniques. This hands-on environment provides excellent opportunities to develop your technical skills and progress toward more advanced welder roles over time.
To thrive as an Entry Level Tig Welder, you need basic welding knowledge, manual dexterity, attention to detail, and a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) welding equipment, protective gear, and safety protocols—plus certifications like AWS (American Welding Society) can be beneficial. Reliability, eagerness to learn, and the ability to follow instructions are key soft skills for success in this role. These competencies ensure you can produce high-quality welds safely and efficiently while supporting team goals and meeting production standards.
