Job description

Do You Have the Desire to Build Really Bad-Ass Products?
visit www.southtexasoutfitters.com to see what we do.
South Texas Outfitters is looking for bad-ass welders and fabricators who want to be part of something special. We're not talking about assembly line work-we're talking about building custom truck bumpers, hunting vehicle conversions, fuel tanks, and accessories that make our customers say "HELL YES!"
Do You Respect and Communicate Well with Your Teammates?
We're building a team of craftsmen who take pride in their work, support each other, and aren't afraid to color outside the lines. If you're looking for a place where your skills matter and your ideas are valued, keep reading.
We're Hiring for Two Positions:
FABRICATORS
Turn raw metal into custom masterpieces
  • Build custom projects from the ground up-bumpers, toolboxes, fuel tanks, headache racks, grill guards, and one-of-a-kind hunting vehicle conversions
  • Read and interpret workorders, sketches, and customer specifications
  • Measure, cut, and form steel using saws, shears, brakes, and fabrication equipment
  • Fit and tack components for welders to complete
  • Operate fabrication tools-ironworkers, plasma cutters, band saws, drill presses, grinders, and more
  • Problem-solve designs and contribute creative solutions

WELDERS
Create great looking welds and finish what the fabricators start
  • MIG weld custom-fabricated products to tight tolerances-bumpers, grill guards, headache racks, toolboxes, fuel tanks, and specialty components
  • Read work orders to ensure every weld meets STO's high standards
  • Quality control-inspect your work and catch issues before they become problems
  • Collaborate with fabricators to bring custom designs to life
  • Finish operations-grinding, cleaning, and prepping welded assemblies for powder coating or paint

What We're Looking For:
FOR BOTH POSITIONS:
  • Entry level and up experience-we value skill and attitude over years on a resume
  • No certifications required-we'll train the right person who shows initiative and potential
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail
  • Team player mentality-you respect your teammates and communicate well
  • Someone who takes pride in their craftsmanship and wants to see customers drive off happy
  • Ability to think creatively and contribute ideas for process improvements
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in a shop environment

FOR WELDERS:
  • If you can create great looking welds with a MIG welder, we want to talk to you
  • Experience a plus, but we'll train the right candidate

FOR FABRICATORS:
  • Strong understanding of metal properties, measurements, and fabrication techniques
  • Comfortable using hand and power tools in a metal fabrication environment
  • Ability to read tape measures, interperate sketches, and technical drawings
  • Experience a plus, but we'll train the right candidate

Why South Texas Outfitters?
Here's the Deal-We Keep Our Word:
For 30 years, we've provided a minimum 40-hour work week and have NEVER laid off an employee
Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM - 5:30 PM-your weekends are yours
Competitive hourly pay based on experience
Full benefits package:
  • Health insurance
  • Paid vacation
  • Paid holidays
  • Retirement plan

Amazing team culture-we work hard, support each other, and build bad-ass products we're proud of
Training available for the right candidate who wants to grow their skills
Full Fabrication and finish facility, sandblasting, powder coating, and installation capabilities
The STO Difference:
We strive to get better every day and are looking for welders and fabricators that want to do the same.
We are looking for the few bad-asses that can show us their creativity, make smart decisions as a team member, do what they say they are going to do, and complete projects on time.
This is NOT assembly work-assembly work can be done by anyone. We're looking for craftsmen who want something different, are self-motivated, and thrive on seeing satisfied customers drive off with the bad-ass products your team built and created.
We don't settle for "good enough." Every product that leaves our shop has our name on it, and we stand behind our work. From custom hunting rigs that tour ranches across Texas to heavy-duty truck bumpers that take a beating and keep going, every project matters.
