The Role
Researches, develops, designs, and tests electrical components, equipment, systems, and networks. Designs electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes.
This position will support facilities projects and engineering team in either the plant engineering, project engineering, or crane engineering team. Candidate shall demonstrate knowledge of applicable regulations, codes and standards for this position. Candidate shall possess the ability to create basic electrical designs with oversight from a senior engineer as well have experience evaluating, maintaining and performing basic troubleshooting on power and/or industrial control systems. Candidate shall be capable of supporting project execution in estimating, planning and implementation. These projects support facilities engineering in power infrastructure and controls, building control systems and industrial equipment control systems. The candidate shall be capable of solving problems in an organized manner. Basic MS Office suit and AutoCAD skills are required (Word and Excel) as well as the ability to communicate clearly with supervisors, peers and customers. Skills that will developed as part of this position are in-depth knowledge of increasingly more complex electrical systems with oversight, drafting of project documentation with oversight and assisting in project implementation.

Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of relevant exempt experience;
Master's Degree and 0 year of relevant professional experience
Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.
