Job description

Overview

Premier Long Island boutique law firm, Novick, Graffeo & Choi, P.C., seeks a highly motivated Entry-Level or Junior Trusts & Estates Litigation Associate to join their growing practice in Melville, NY. This is an entirely in-office, unique opportunity for a new attorney to be mentored in the area of contested estates and fiduciary litigation.

Responsibilities:

•  Assist with managing a diverse Trusts & Estates litigation caseload from inception to resolution.

•  Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, discovery demands, and Surrogate’s Court petitions.

•  Prepare for depositions, court hearings, and trial proceedings alongside senior counsel.

•  Attend court conferences and handle routine calendar calls under guidance.

•  Communicate with clients, witnesses, and opposing counsel to advance case files.

Requirements:

•  J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school with strong academic credentials.

•  Admission to the New York State bar (or pending admission with a passed bar exam).

•  0 to 2 years of legal experience, with a demonstrated interest in Trusts & Estates law or civil litigation.

•  Strong knowledge of or eager willingness to learn Surrogate’s Court Practice area.

•  Excellent written, verbal communication, and analytical skills.

•  Strong work ethic and a desire to learn in a fast-paced environment.

•  Ability to work full-time on-site at our Melville, NY office (no remote/hybrid options for this entry-level position).

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and admission, or eligibility for admission, to practice law in New York.
  • Excellent written and oral advocacy skills, including drafting motions, briefs, and client communications.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment and to maintain professional client relationships.
