We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Senior Substation Engineer to join our team at K&A Power Group in Charlotte, NC. Job Overview:

Due to company growth, we are actively seeking an experienced Substation Design Engineer to join our team to perform and execute substation design projects.

Responsibilities and Duties:

The Substation Design Engineer will perform but are not limited to the following duties:

  • Detailed design of Electrical Substations – Includes both execution/detailed design projects and project development/scoping
  • Substation Design including the creation of substation construction drawing packages, engineering calculations, and developing bill of materials to meet client project scopes & demands
  • Perform QAQC on substation physical design packages including general arrangement/physical and electrical layout, electrical equipment plans, elevation & section views, and below grade drawings & details
  • Coordinate project work with K&A project manager, engineering lead, & junior engineers
  • Communicate project status, updates, & design questions/issues with client partners
  • Attend on-site meetings as required to support execution & development projects
  • Assemble proposals & cost estimates for new substation design projects

Qualifications and Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from an accredited university
  • 2+ Years of professional experience within substation design for electrical utilities
  • EIT certification or PE license preferred
  • Experience with protective relaying and/or P&C design is a plus
  • Familiarity with substation grounding and lightning protection
  • Past project experience working with large utilities
  • Proven experience in Substation Design should include: general arrangement, electrical equipment, plans, elevation and section views, station cable trays, conduit fill calcs, rigid bus calcs, grounding and conduit layouts
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Experience working with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, & CDEGS/WinIGS preferred

Salary Range: $90,000-125,000/year
