Job description

Structural Interventional Cardiologist Hershey & Lancaster Medical Centers – Hybrid

Penn State Health is seeking a board-certified/board-eligible Structural Interventional Cardiologist for a hybrid position spanning Hershey Medical Center (HMC) and Lancaster Medical Center (LMC). This role offers two dedicated days per week of structural intervention at our academic medical center, combined with general and coronary interventional cardiology at our community campus.

Position Overview

The structural interventionalist will spend two days per week performing structural heart procedures at Hershey Medical Center, which serves as the structural heart referral center for the Penn State Health system with full cardiac surgical backup and comprehensive imaging support. Remaining clinical days will be based at Lancaster Medical Center. Call responsibilities are limited to Lancaster Medical Center only.

What You Will Do

  • Perform transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) and other transcatheter valve therapies
  • Perform transcatheter mitral valve repair (MitraClip/TEER) and emerging mitral/tricuspid therapies
  • Perform left atrial appendage occlusion (WATCHMAN) and septal defect closures (PFO/ASD)
  • Collaborate with cardiac surgeons, imaging specialists, and the multidisciplinary structural heart team
  • Participate in structural heart case conferences, research, and fellow education

At Lancaster Medical Center

  • Perform diagnostic and therapeutic coronary interventions
  • Manage acute STEMI activations and provide interventional call coverage (LMC only)
  • Provide outpatient consultative cardiology and longitudinal follow-up care
  • Contribute to growth of cardiovascular services at LMC

Qualifications Required

  • M.D., D.O., or foreign equivalent
  • Completion of ACGME-accredited fellowships in Cardiovascular Disease and Interventional Cardiology
  • Advanced training or equivalent experience in structural heart intervention
  • Board certified/eligible in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, and Interventional Cardiology
  • Eligible for unrestricted medical licensure in Pennsylvania

Preferred

  • Completion of a dedicated structural heart fellowship or equivalent clinical volume
  • Experience as a primary operator for TAVR, TEER, and LAA occlusion
  • Proficiency in procedural imaging including TEE and cardiac CT
  • Interest in academic medicine, clinical research, and fellow education
