Job description

Description:

The Entry Level Technician services vehicles as assigned by management following all established standards and procedures, which includes Express and Level 2 Express duties such as rotating tires, performing multi-point inspections, and changing automotive fluids. He or she checks the oil, tire pressure and condition, filters, windshield wiper fluid, power steering fluid, brake fluid, transmission and differential fluids, and engine coolant. In addition, he/she will conduct new/used car pre-delivery inspections. The Entry Level Technician will train to become a full main line technician.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, at least one year of experience, an unrestricted driver's license and a clean driving record, and an aptitude for vehicle maintenance. State-certified inspectors a plus, but we will assist in certification. ASE a bonus, but not required. Candidates must have a willingness to learn and grow with a great team, fluent English speaking and writing skills, good time management skills, and appropriate appearance and behavior.


Responsibilities

  • Checks all fluids and maintenance-related parts and tops-off or replaces fluids or filters/parts as required
  • Cleans and conditions vehicle interior, including vacuuming, shampooing, applying fabric/leather treatments, and polishing
  • Completes repair orders by asking good diagnostic questions to identify customer needs, enters all repair orders into scheduling system in the order in which customers are received, and identifies any repair orders that require special handling, such as rush/waiting, comebacks, etc.
  • Ensures agreement from customer is in place before service begins and informs customer of estimated repair costs and times and accepted methods of payment
  • Ensures all service level targets are met or exceeded
  • Ensures that all completed repairs have gone through quality control and/or a road test
  • Follows all shop policy, procedure, safety, and environmental rules
  • Follows up on status of repairs to ensure vehicle is ready when promised, informs customer in advance when car can't be ready at the promised time, and obtains authorization from customers when repair estimates are revised
  • Helps maintain shop appearance and safety standards and ensures the shop runs in an efficient manner by performing duties such as inventory stocking and other general functions
  • Inspects vehicles for noticeable defects, such as dents, scratches, torn upholstery, and poor mechanical operation
  • Maintains cleanliness of vehicles while performing service or repairs
  • Maintains current knowledge of vehicle operation, warranties, campaigns, and other service information, such as state lemon laws and Technical Service Bulletins (TSB)
  • Performs routine service inspections or tests and completes standard maintenance jobs
  • Sells only required service and maintenance to customers and follows dealership service sales policy and procedures
  • Washes and conditions vehicle exterior, including tires, wheels, under-carriage, and under-hood components and waxing/buffing
