Job description

This is more than an internship-it's an opportunity to launch your career with a dynamic and forwardthinking surveying team in Reno. We're committed to fostering an inclusive, collaborative environment where you're supported both professionally and personally. As an intern, you'll gain handson experience, learn from seasoned professionals, and contribute to real projects that make an impact. We're looking for motivated earlycareer candidates who are eager to grow, develop their technical skills, and ideally transition from an internship into a fulltime role with our team.

Responsibilities:

  • The survey interns will gain vast experience supporting the Land Survey team in collecting and processing field data
  • Survey interns will be paired with a mentor who will train the intern on technical reports, layouts, and survey plans for diverse land development and solar projects
  • Assist with office tasks including, but not limited to CAD drafting, data download, deed and map research, and filing
  • With training and guidance, you will learn to perform survey activities such as: leveling, traversing, topographic mapping, construction layout, as-built surveys, boundary surveys, profile and cross section surveys, as well as physical tasks such as line clearing, pounding stakes, setting monuments, and locating critical underground objects
  • As a Survey intern at Atwell, you'll gain experience with various drawings specific to projects including; ALTA, Final Plats, Maps of Dedication, construction layout, and construction staking

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in an Engineering/Survey program OR those with a genuine interest in developing skills and pursuing a career in surveying.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Entry level experience with AutoCAD is preferred
  • Basic understanding of plan interpretation
  • Proven ability to work well both within a team and independently when needed 

Our standard intern pay rates range from $20-$25 per hour.
