Entry Level Sheet Metal Programmer information

What is the difference between Entry Level Sheet Metal Programmer vs Sheet Metal Fabricator?

AspectEntry Level Sheet Metal ProgrammerSheet Metal Fabricator
CredentialsBasic technical training, possibly certification in CAD or programming softwareTechnical training or apprenticeship, hands-on fabrication skills
Work EnvironmentDesign offices, manufacturing plants, CNC programming settingsWorkshop or manufacturing floor, hands-on assembly and fabrication
Employer & Industry UsageUsed in manufacturing, HVAC, aerospace industries for programming CNC machinesUsed across construction, HVAC, and manufacturing for building and assembling metal parts

While both roles are essential in sheet metal manufacturing, an Entry Level Sheet Metal Programmer focuses on creating CNC programs using CAD/CAM software, working mainly in design and programming environments. In contrast, a Sheet Metal Fabricator is more hands-on, assembling and fabricating metal components on the shop floor. Both roles require technical skills but differ in daily tasks and work settings.
