What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Entry Level Security Officer, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Entry Level Security Officer, you need a basic understanding of safety procedures, situational awareness, and often a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with surveillance systems, radio communication devices, and sometimes security-specific certifications like a guard card are typically required. Strong attention to detail, reliability, and effective communication skills help you stand out in this role. These skills and qualities are crucial for maintaining a safe environment, preventing incidents, and responding appropriately to emergencies.

What are some common challenges faced by entry level security professionals, and how can they be addressed?

Entry level security professionals often encounter challenges such as adapting to irregular work hours, staying alert during long shifts, and handling difficult situations with the public. Building strong observation and communication skills is key to effectively managing these challenges. Regular training, mentorship from experienced colleagues, and maintaining physical and mental wellness can help new security staff adjust more smoothly to the demands of the job. Additionally, being proactive in learning company protocols and seeking feedback will foster greater confidence and career growth.

What are entry level security jobs?

Entry level security jobs are positions within the security industry that require little to no previous experience or specialized training. These roles typically involve tasks such as monitoring premises, checking credentials, patrolling property, and ensuring the safety of people and assets. Common job titles include security guard, loss prevention associate, and access control officer. Entry level security positions often provide on-the-job training and may require a high school diploma or equivalent. They are a good starting point for those interested in pursuing a career in law enforcement or private security.

What is the easiest security job to get?

Entry-level security guard positions are generally the easiest security jobs to obtain, often requiring minimal experience and offering on-the-job training. These roles typically involve monitoring premises, checking IDs, and maintaining safety, with some positions requiring a valid guard card or license depending on local regulations.

What job makes $10,000 a month without a degree?

Entry-level security roles typically do not pay $10,000 a month without experience or specialized skills. High-paying security jobs, such as cybersecurity analysts or security consultants, often require relevant certifications and experience, and they may reach that income level with experience, but entry-level positions usually pay less. Most jobs offering such high salaries without a degree are in sales, entrepreneurship, or specialized trades, not standard security roles.

Our brand is built on engineering excellence, and we take that responsibility seriously. We foster a culture centered on learning, problem-solving, strong teamwork, and operational discipline. Continuous improvement is part of our DNA, and we thrive in a collaborative, mission-driven environment.
We're looking for a motivated, early-career engineer with a strong technical foundation and a passion for cybersecurity. In this role, you will support Secure Product Development initiatives across the engineering organization, including secure coding, tool administration, automation scripting, vulnerability management, and advising software engineers on security requirements. This is a great opportunity for someone eager to grow their skills and contribute to building a secure-by-design engineering culture.
Responsibilities
  • Secure Product Development:
    • Assist in the implementation and maintenance of security standards and best practices.
    • Help identify, triage, and track remediation of vulnerabilities.
    • Contribute to the integration and tuning of security tools (SAST, SCA, DAST, secrets scanning, etc.).
    • Provide guidance and support to engineers regarding security requirements.
    • Participate and guide product teams in threat modeling to identify potential risks using STRIDE and DREAD frameworks.
  • Automation & Scripting:
    • Develop and maintain automation scripts (Python, Bash, PowerShell, etc.) to improve security processes and workflows.
    • Create small internal tools or utilities that support engineering productivity and security visibility.
  • Systems & Tool Administration:
    • Help manage and administer security-related platforms (e.g., SAST, DAST, SCA scanners).
    • Assist with onboarding engineers to security tools and workflows.
    • Support documentation efforts for operational procedures and tool usage.
  • Collaboration & Continuous Improvement:
    • Work closely with software engineers, DevOps, and IT to promote secure practices.
    • Participate in security incident response activities as needed.
    • Stay up to date with emerging security trends, threats, and technologies.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Security, or a related technical field.
  • Strong familiarity with one or more scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell).
  • Working knowledge of Linux and/or Windows operating systems.
  • Understanding of core cybersecurity topics such as OWASP Top 10, SSDLC, and common vulnerability types.
  • Ability to learn new tools, technologies, and security concepts quickly.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Coursework, internships, or projects related to cybersecurity.
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Familiarity with GitHub or similar version control systems.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines or developer tooling.
  • Basic knowledge of networking fundamentals and security protocols.
  • Relevant certifications (Security+, GSEC, etc.) are a plus but not required.
What We're Looking For
This role is ideal for someone who:
  • Has a strong technical grounding and wants to specialize in security.
  • Enjoys problem-solving, debugging, and understanding how systems work.
  • Is proactive, curious, and eager to grow within a security-focused career path.
  • Thrives in a collaborative engineering environment.
