Job Description

Geologist

Hanson Professional Services Inc. is seeking a candidate for a Geologist or Geological Engineer to be part of our Railway Market Unit. The location is in our St. Louis, MO office.

General assignment: Responsible for desktop geological assessment/study, field data collection, coordination and supervision of drilling and laboratory test contractors, construction observations, and otherduties asassigned.

A Day in the Life of a Geologist at Hanson

Here'sa snapshot of what you would do in this role:

  • Lead in geotechnical explorations; planning, field reconnaissance, coordination and supervision of subcontractors, supervision of field testing and data collection.
  • Lead in field safety and quality control.
  • Develop geo-material design parameters, conduct modeling/analysis and design, and perform calculations.
  • Perform complex geotechnical engineering calculations,utilizecomputer software for analysis and design, and work efficiently with other team members for project completion.
  • Prepare geotechnical reports, specifications, details, and construction plans.
  • Assign duties and mentor entry level staff.
  • Provide quality control by reviewing technical concepts, calculations, and reports prepared by others.
  • Other duties as assigned.

WhatWe'reLooking For

We feel the following qualifications would set you up for success in this role:

  • Experience with gINT
  • Experience with MS Office Suite preferred
  • Experience with geotechnical design software packages such as GeoStudio
  • Experience with logging soil borings and preparation of field logs for soil borings

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in geology or geological engineering
  • 0-2 years of experience
  • GRIT/FE is preferred or ability to obtain within 6months
  • Ability to write clearly and concisely, computer skillsrequired
  • Abilityto use gINT and other commercial programs to generate final logs will be considered a plus.
  • Candidatemust be willing to accept out-of-town travel assignments and to work overtime to meet project demands.
  • This is asafetysensitive position

The salary range for this position, depending on relevant experience is:

$63,000 - $80,000

Employees in thisrole,will be subject to random drug testing.
