A Brief Overview
Follows laboratory policies and procedures to perform high and moderate complexity testing. Performs pre-analytical and post-analytical laboratory support functions. Demonstrates clear communication with team members to optimize laboratory operations
What You Will Do
  • Accurately and efficiently performs pre-analytical, analytical and post analytical processes for laboratory testing
  • Maintains and troubleshoots laboratory equipment according to manufacturer's instructions
  • Performs and evaluates all required quality control assessments as described in departmental policies and procedures prior to reporting patient results.
  • Evaluates results of laboratory tests according to laboratory protocols to ensure quality patient care.
  • Documents all laboratory activities according to policies and procedures
  • Maintains and demonstrates competency assessment in assigned area
  • Takes responsibility for self-development
  • Completes all assigned mandatory assignments within allowed timelines.

  • Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.

Qualifications:
Education
  • Associate's Degree in a laboratory science or medical laboratory technology (Required)
Work Experience
  • less than 1 year Entry level (Required)
Licenses and Certifications
  • Medical Lab Technician (MLT-ASCP) MLT (ASCP) certification or equivalent preferred (Preferred Upon Hire)
