The Opportunity:
Tetra Tech is adding a Civil Construction Inspector - RPR - Entry Level to our Construction team based in East Lansing, MI. This role supports a variety of municipal infrastructure projects, including water main, sanitary sewer systems, water and wastewater treatment facilities, and paving projects. The selected candidate will work closely with project managers, contractors, and public stakeholders to help ensure successful project delivery.

Position Summary:
The Civil Construction Inspector - RPR - Entry Level provides on-site inspection and documentation support for municipal infrastructure and utility construction projects. This role ensures contractor compliance with plans, specifications, and contract documents while supporting communication between project stakeholders.

Essential Job Functions:
The following duties are considered essential to the role. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.
     Observe and document daily construction activities, including subcontractor work, to ensure compliance with plans and specifications.
     Maintain daily reports of measurements, calculations, and computed quantities, including detailed written narratives of completed work.
     Verify conformance of construction activities with contract documents and approved submittals.
     Maintain redline drawings for incorporation into final record drawings.
     Serve as a site liaison between the owner and contractor to support coordination and issue resolution.
     Engage with the public to provide site access coordination and progress updates as needed.
     Adhere to company policies and procedures, including safety, public relations, and employment practices.

Required Qualifications:
     High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or related field preferred.
     Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
     Excellent organizational and written/verbal communication skills.
     Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
     Willingness to travel periodically, approximately 15% or more, as project needs require.

Preferred Qualifications:
     Associate or bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field.
     Previous internship or field experience in construction inspection or municipal infrastructure projects.
     Experience reading and interpreting construction plans and specifications.
     OSHA 10-Hour or 30-Hour Construction Safety certification.

Physical Requirements:
     Ability to work extended or irregular hours depending on project demands and season.
     Ability to traverse rough or uneven terrain and position oneself to operate inspection or survey-related equipment.
     Ability to occasionally ascend or descend ladders and enter trenches or elevated areas to observe construction activities.
     Ability to lift and move items up to 50 pounds
Work Environment / Environmental Factors:
     Work is performed primarily outdoors on active construction sites with variable weather exposure.
     Exposure to heavy construction equipment, moderate to high noise levels, and uneven terrain.
     Potential exposure to hazardous materials, confined spaces, heights, and air or waterborne pathogens.
     Use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.

     Work Location: East Lansing, MI (primarily field-based).
     Schedule: May require protracted or irregular hours depending on construction schedules and seasonal demands.
     Travel: Approximately 15% or more, based on project needs.
