We are seeking highly skilled and motivated Surveyors to add to our team, to execute field survey operations for heavy civil infrastructure (highway/bridge), and energy projects around the US.  This role is ideal for a detail-oriented Surveyor, with at least 2 years in construction survey, with strong interest in growing into a Survey Management role, with demonstrated leadership capabilities and knowledge in dimensional control, industrial measurement and want to grow their career. District Overview

Kiewit's Central District operates in the central and south-central regions of the United States. We build heavy civil and transportation projects, including highways, airports, mass transit systems, canals, dams and tunnels. With one of the largest equipment fleets in the region, we can mobilize to any location as a full-service construction team capable of self-performing mass grading, drainage, bridge construction, aggregate production, paving, rail and utility construction. 

Location

We are looking for Surveyors to support projects around the United states.  This team may support projects in any of the following states:  CO, MT, WY, NM, ND, SD, NE, KS, MO, IA and MN.    In this role, you must be willing to travel to project sites as needed and visit our district office in Lone Tree Colorado occasionally for training and meetings.  When assigned to a project site, we provide per diem and trips home.  

Responsibilities
  • Implement Project Survey plans, according to instruction.  Perform Field Survey Operations, conducting boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, and construction staking surveys for Heavy Civil Construction, (roads, highways, bridges, airports, rail and transit) and construction for civil scopes of power and water treatment facilities.  Understanding of how to work to tight tolerances to minimize construction errors.
  • Operate Advanced Equipment: Use GPS, robotic total stations, 3D laser scanners, and data collectors to acquire high-precision measurements.  Ability to use CAD proficiently for layouts, (AutoCAD, Civil3D or Microstation) to convert drawings into Trimble Business Center
  • Interpret Plans & Legal Documents: Read and apply engineering drawings, plats, deeds, and construction documents to guide fieldwork.  Able to work within tight tolerances vertically and horizontally.  Set and maintain control network. 
  • Ensure Data Integrity: Review and validate field data for accuracy and completeness before submission to project teams.  Maintain accurate field notes and documentation
  • Coordinate with Project Teams: Communicate effectively with superintendents, field crews, engineers, project managers, and clients to ensure alignment on scope, schedule, and deliverables and help define how work plans will be executed in the field.
  • Maintain Safety & Compliance: Uphold safety standards and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Qualifications
  • Must be willing to work 50-60 hours per week, along with weekends.  (We do pay overtime)
  • 2+ years of field construction survey experience, peforming dimentional control, industrial measurements,  preference of leading others conducting field surveys.  Prefer experience with heavy civil highway, bridge construction, power plants, water, tunneling.  
  • Proficiency with Trimble Access/Business preferred, or other similar systems (Leica, or Topcon systems).  
  • Strong understanding of construction staking, boundary analysis, and control networks,  passion for the details, experience working with tight tolerances.  Must have experience running instruments and willing to train others on the equipment.  
  • Experience with CAD software( AutoCAD, or Civil 3D or Microstation ) and GIS platforms preferred.  
  • LSIT or PLS certification is a plus and if not, willing to get those certifications with Kiewit support
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel regionally
  • Accustomed to Outdoor fieldwork in varied terrain and weather conditions
  • Willing to travel as necessary to projects.  We provide per diem and trips home, when long durations.  
  • Physical ability to lift equipment and perform manual tasks;  Strong communication skills, and strong work ethic.  Committed to safety and getting the work done right the first time.

Base Compensation: $60,000/yr - $63,000/yr 
(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
