Diagnostic Imaging at Banner University Medical Center - Phoenix is busy, fast paced, and gives you the opportunity to do what you do best: Providing excellent care for patients.

A radiology physician assistant (RPA) works under the supervision of a radiologist toassist with patient care, diagnostic imaging, and interventional procedures.Their duties include performing patient assessments, assisting in procedures like biopsies and drain placements, and educating patients.They also help interpret imaging studies and manage patient follow-up and care plans.The preferred candidate must have a current certification by the Certification Board for Radiology Practitioner Assistants or certification as a Registered Radiologist Assistant by American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. A current Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification is also required.

This is a full-time position, scheduled 40 hours a week (The schedule will vary, we are looking at 8 or 10 hour shifts, mostly day shift with some weekend shifts required). The primary location for this role is located at BUMC Phoenix (1111 E McDowell Rd), however the RPA will be required to travel to out to Talking Stick (7400 Dobson Rd) and Arcadia (4200 Camelback Rd).

Our 1,100-plus clinicians provide primary and specialty care to patients at highly ranked Banner - University Medical Centers and dozens of clinics while providing mentorship to more than 1,200 residents and fellows. POSITION SUMMARY
This position is an advanced-level radiologic technologist who enhances patient care by extending the capacity of the radiologist in the diagnostic imaging environment. The position performs patient assessment, patient management, fluoroscopy and a broad range of diagnostic and interventional services under the supervision of a Radiologist.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Evaluates the daily schedule of procedures with the supervising physician and determines where skills set will be best utilized.
2. Completes procedures under the guidance, supervision and discretion of the supervising physician and displays competencies required by licensure, scope of practice, credentialing and organizational policy.
3. Evaluates medical images, reviews preliminary reports and images with supervising physician, and prepares technical reports for review and sign off by the supervising physician.
4. Assess and evaluate the physiologic and psychological responsiveness of each patient.
5. Participates in patient management, including prescribing additional imaging procedures, following review with the supervising physician.
6. Administers and/ or orders intravenous medications and contrast media under the supervision of a physician with co-signature prior to initiation of orders.
7. Collects, analyzes, evaluates pertinent information regarding equipment, procedures and the work environment for radiation safety, patient safety, risk management and quality management opportunities and implements corrective action when necessary.
8. The position performs patient assessment, patient management, and a broad range of diagnostic and interventional services under the supervision of a Radiologist. Examples of procedures performed are: fluoroscopic procedures (dynamic and static), ultrasound, computed tomography or fluoroscopic guided biopsies, vascular access procedures, etc. Incumbents make initial observations of diagnostic images and prepare final reports for review and sign off by supervising physician. Responds to urgent and emergent situations during the performance of essential functions which may include initial patient rescue. Customers are patients of all ages and diagnostic category, multidisciplinary healthcare teams, imaging and supply staff.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires knowledge normally associated with completion of a Bachelor's Degree and certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Requires graduation from a certified Radiology Practitioner Assistant program or Registered Radiologist Assistant program.
Current certification by the Certification Board for Radiology Practitioner Assistants or certification as a Registered Radiologist Assistant by American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification is also required.
Excellent clinical and communications skills are required.

Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
