Job description

About PEAK...
At PEAK Construction Corporation, we do more than build facilities - we build value, trust, long-term partnerships, and a culture where people come first. Headquartered in Rosemont, IL, with regional offices in East Windsor, NJ and Charleston-St. George, SC, we're a national design-build leader trusted across the industry and country.
We take pride in delivering excellence often beginning with land development and site analysis across Industrial, Freezer/Cooler, Hospitality, Healthcare, Commercial, and Specialty markets - but what truly sets us apart is our people. Our mantra is simple: Do The Right Thing. That commitment extends to how we treat clients, partners, and especially our team.
We are looking for a forward-thinking Project Engineer to carry out that mission even further.
About Your Role with PEAK...
As a Project Engineer at Peak Construction Corporation, you will be instrumental in driving the success of our construction projects from pre-construction through closeout. You will support both field and office operations, ensuring seamless coordination between subcontractors, the PEAK team, and project stakeholders. Your role will encompass safety oversight, cost control, scheduling, document management, and proactive risk mitigation. With a strong foundation in project planning and CPM scheduling, you will help maintain project momentum and ensure timely delivery. Your technical proficiency, leadership, and collaborative mindset will be key in fostering operational excellence and upholding PEAK's standards of quality and safety.
Where You Will Make a Difference...
Strategic Project Oversight & Execution You will assist in managing and supervising construction efforts across multiple projects, ensuring alignment with PEAK's objectives and contractual obligations. You will support the development of project budgets, scope definitions, and subcontractor buyouts, expediting procurement to mitigate pricing escalation and supply chain delays.
Safety & Risk Management You will observe job-site conditions and report potential risks to the Project Manager and Superintendent. You'll document all incidents thoroughly and assist in preparing for third-party safety audits, ensuring immediate follow-up and compliance with PEAK's safety protocols.
Document Control & Compliance You will manage submittals, RFIs, change orders, and project correspondence, maintain organized logs and ensure timely responses. You'll oversee the preparation and monitoring of submittal schedules and ensure all documentation aligns with project specifications and timelines.
Scheduling & Resource Coordination You will share responsibility for meeting contractual schedule requirements, participating in the creation and bi-weekly updates of the Master Project Schedule. You'll collaborate with the project team during pre-construction and procurement phases to define critical path timelines and resource needs.
Communication & Collaboration You will coordinate interactions between the Peak team and subcontractors, fostering a productive and transparent work environment. You'll attend and document project meetings, maintain status reports, and ensure timely communication with ownership and stakeholder.
Closeout & Quality Assurance You will manage the project closeout process, including punch list generation and resolution. You'll verify subcontractor extra work orders and ensure all project documentation is complete and accurate.
Leadership & Operational Excellence You will demonstrate a proactive management style, continually seeking out unknown risks and opportunities for improvement. Your ability to mentor junior team members and handle stressful situations with foresight will contribute to a resilient and high-performing project team.
Qualifications & Experience

  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Effective communicator with leadership capabilities
