Job Description

Sr. RF Service Technician

Teledyne Paradise Datacom, a leader in the supply of communication equipment used in satellite earth stations, is seeking qualified applicants for a Sr. RF Service Technician role. This position supports satellite communications and telecommunications equipment through hands-on troubleshooting, repair, customer support, installation, maintenance, and field service activities.

Responsibilities
  • Diagnose complex electronic, RF, microwave, power supply, and system-level failures using schematics, technical documentation, test data, and engineering judgment to determine root cause and corrective action.
  • Provide senior-level technical guidance to technicians and support personnel during troubleshooting, repair, training, and service activities.
  • Support Serial/Ethernet Monitor and Control interfaces used for product operation, diagnostics, configuration, and customer service support.
  • Perform and oversee on-site installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, calibration, and repair of customer systems and equipment in domestic and international field environments.
  • Act as a senior customer-facing technical representative, addressing escalated service issues, explaining technical findings, and maintaining professional communication with customers.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Sales, Customer Support, Quality, and Operations to resolve technical issues, communicate field feedback, and support product or process improvements.
  • Create and maintain accurate service records, troubleshooting notes, failure analysis details, repair documentation, and recommendations for recurring issue prevention.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying common failure trends, recommending repair process improvements, and helping improve service efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  • Responsible for the coordination, evaluation and status reporting of customer field returns.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Two-year associate degree in electronics or equivalent military or work experience.
  • Strong basic electronics knowledge with the ability to logically and systematically troubleshoot circuits and equipment.
  • Experience with microwave, RF, fiber, satellite communications, telecommunications, or related systems preferred.
  • Working knowledge of test equipment, diagnostics, and laboratory procedures; specific laboratory equipment training will be provided as needed.
  • Basic computer skills and the ability to use technical documentation, service records, and customer support tools.
  • Ability to perform hand soldering of small components, including the visual acuity required for detailed electronics work.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, technical communication skills, and customer service orientation.
  • Ability to take directions from senior technicians during training and adapt to changing service or production priorities.
Travel Requirements

Must be willing to travel domestically and internationally to support customer needs. Travel may be required approximately 40-50% of the time. A valid passport is required.
