This position will support software efforts associated with testing Radio Frequency (RF) production hardware in a dynamic, fast-paced and technically challenging production environment

This position will be full-time, on-site at our Rolling Meadows, IL. location.
What you will get to do:
  • Test Station Development: Lead and support Non-Recurring (NRE) test station development for EOIR products including requirements reviews, equipment selection and procurement, drawings, station build, validation, and development testing.
  • Design Feedback: Identify design improvements for manufacturability to reduce assembly complexity and costs. Engage with Design Engineering to successfully incorporate changes.
  • Support to Production: Coordinate with Design Engineering, Production technician, Project Management, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and Quality organizations to test EOIR products and provide solutions to support nonconformance repair procedures.
  • Continuous improvement: Review of quality metrics to identify and lead efforts needed to implement continuous improvement initiatives to reduce cost, cycle time, and defects.
  • Project management: Leading and reporting day-to-day test engineering efforts, providing executive level presentation on current state of a project or on a plan to resolve a production level issue, performing earned value on non-recurring activities.

The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational, communication and leadership skills to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with all levels of management and individual contributors.
Basic Qualifications for the Engineer Electronics (RF):
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Electrical and/or Computer Engineering or a related STEM field with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience; OR a Master of Science (MS) degree in equivalent fields with 0 or more years of experience.
  • Experience with hardware and calibration / testing methodology
  • Experience working with use of any RF test instruments such as (but not limited to) Performance Network Analyzer, Signal Generator, Spectrum Analyzer, Oscilloscope, etc.
  • Experience with troubleshooting of hardware, software, or firmware issues
  • Experience completing hardware projects involving hardware design / development activities and/or integration and validation activities on schedule and on budget.
  • Experience in managing small to medium scale projects or leading continuous improvement projects.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
  • US Citizenship required.

Preferred Qualifications for the Engineer Electronics (RF):
  • 2 or more years of experience in electronic hardware Manufacturing environment
  • Prior hardware & software troubleshooting experience of test equipment or prime hardware.
  • Experience in troubleshooting unit under test.
  • Experience with RF Electronic systems in manufacturing or design (software, firmware, etc.) environment.
  • Experience with reading schematics and interpreting electrical one-lines.
  • Active DoD Security Clearance.
  • Experience in creating test procedures or developing/improving manufacturing processes
  • Experience with Manufacturing software planning tools such as SAP or other ERP systems
  • Experience with Root Cause Corrective Action methods.

Primary Level Salary Range: $87,600.00 - $131,400.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
