Entry-Level Interior Designer

Interior Designer | In-office | Full Time

The Opportunity

River Street Architecture is looking for an entry-level interior designer to join our team. This role is ideal for a recent graduate or emerging designer who is eager to build experience across all phases of commercial interior design while working alongside architects and interior designers in a supportive, hands-on studio environment.

You’ll assist project teams with design development, documentation, presentations, research, and fieldwork—gaining practical exposure to how thoughtful ideas become built environments.

What You’ll Do

·    Assist with drawings and documentation throughout all project phases.

·    Prepare and revise floor plans, elevations, sections, details, and other architectural/interior design documents.

·    Create 2D and 3D presentation materials that clearly communicate design ideas.

·    Support space planning, programming, finish selections, furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E).

·    Research materials, products, manufacturers, and design solutions; organize findings for the project team.

·    Participate in design charrettes, project team meetings, client meetings, and vendor presentations.

·    Conduct clear, thorough field surveys and support site visits, punch lists, submittals, and shop drawing reviews as requested.

·    Collaborate with the team to solve technical and design challenges while meeting project standards and deadlines.

What You Bring

·    Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design from an accredited university

·    0+ years of professional experience—we welcome recent graduates.

·    A foundation in drafting, space planning, design principles, materials, FF&E, and construction documentation.

·    Revit experience is preferred. Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office is acceptable.

·    Familiarity with Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, SketchUp, and/or Enscape is a plus.

·    Basic understanding of building codes, life safety, ADA requirements, construction methods, and sustainable design principles.

·    Clear verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and a genuine interest in learning.

·    A collaborative mindset and the ability to balance priorities and meet deadlines.

Position Details

This is a full-time, in-office position based in Chattanooga, Tennessee, with an anticipated start as soon as possible. The salary range is $45,000–$55,000, depending on experience and licensure. This position reports to the Interior Design Studio Leader and to the Partners of River Street Architecture, LLC.
