Job description

The Medical Affairs Associate supports the execution of medical affairs activities within cardiometabolic and metabolic disease areas, including diabetes and obesity. The role combines scientific expertise with cross-functional collaboration and contributes to the development and implementation of medical strategies aligned with product and disease area objectives. Responsibilities may include scientific communication, stakeholder engagement, project coordination, medical education initiatives, review of promotional materials, and support of field-based teams. The position also involves contributing to advisory boards, congress activities, medical training, and scientific exchange with healthcare professionals, while ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and internal standards.

Main activities are: Medical & Cross-Functional Support
  • Build and maintain strong knowledge of products, disease areas, and treatment landscapes within the assigned therapeutic area.
  • Support the development and execution of local medical strategies aligned with broader product and disease area objectives.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional stakeholders including Medical Affairs, Commercial, Market Access, Clinical Operations, Real-World Evidence, and Regulatory teams.
  • Contribute scientific input to promotional and educational materials in line with applicable regulations and internal processes.
  • Support internal medical and scientific training initiatives for commercial and field-based teams.
  • Monitor developments within the healthcare landscape and assess their potential impact on medical activities and patient care.
Scientific Exchange & Medical Communication
  • Ensure all scientific communication activities are compliant with local regulations and internal standards.
  • Respond to scientific inquiries from healthcare professionals when appropriate.
  • Support scientific exchange through educational meetings, scientific presentations, and congress-related activities.
  • Assist in the organization of advisory boards and expert meetings.
  • Prepare and maintain scientific slide decks, presentations, and supporting materials.
Scientific Expertise & Continuous Learning
  • Stay up to date with clinical developments, treatment guidelines, and scientific literature within the therapeutic area.
  • Critically evaluate emerging data and maintain awareness of competitor developments and evolving medical trends.
  • Identify potential evidence gaps and contribute to initiatives supporting scientific understanding and patient access.
General Responsibilities
  • Support project coordination and follow-up of timelines and budgets.

Qualifications
  • Masterโ€™s degree in a scientific or life sciences field.
  • Previous experience in Medical Affairs is considered an advantage.
  • Experience or interest in endocrinology, metabolism, or cardiometabolic diseases is a plus.
  • Fluent in English and either Dutch or French; knowledge of all three languages is an asset.
  • Strong scientific literacy and ability to interpret medical literature.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Comfortable collaborating across multiple departments and stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and project management capabilities.
  • Able to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
