Dogwood Veterinary Specialty and Emergency is seeking an experienced Client and Referring Veterinarian Liaison (Referral Coordinator) to become a founding member of our new Specialty and Emergency Hospital opening in Dunwoody, Georgia this Fall.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced veterinary professional who enjoys building relationships, coordinating specialty care, and serving as the bridge between referring veterinarians, pet owners, and our specialty teams.

As one of the first team members supporting our newest hospital, you will play a vital role in shaping the referral experience while helping strengthen partnerships with veterinary hospitals throughout Metro Atlanta.

As our Client and Referring Veterinarian Liaison, you'll help ensure every referral experience is seamless, professional, and compassionate from the first phone call through specialty consultation and ongoing communication.

This is far more than a scheduling position.

You'll become an essential partner in helping patients receive timely specialty care while strengthening relationships with the veterinary community.
Referral Coordination
  • Coordinate specialty referrals from General Practice and Emergency hospitals 
  •  Contact clients to explain the referral process and schedule appointments 
  •  Review referral requests for accuracy and completeness 
  •  Obtain medical records, diagnostic results, and imaging from referring practices 
  •  Prioritize urgent and emergent specialty cases appropriately 
  •  Ensure timely communication throughout each patient's referral journey 
Referring Veterinarian Relations
  •  Serve as the primary point of contact for referring veterinary hospitals 
  •  Build long-term professional relationships with veterinarians and hospital teams 
  •  Facilitate communication between referring doctors and Dogwood specialists 
  •  Coordinate medical updates and specialty consultation reports 
  •  Help strengthen referral partnerships throughout Georgia 
Client Experience
  •  Guide clients through specialty and emergency scheduling with compassion and professionalism 
  •  Explain appointment expectations and next steps 
  •  Provide outstanding customer service during emotionally challenging situations 
  •  Ensure every client feels informed, supported, and cared for 
Hospital Operations
  •  Collaborate closely with Internal Medicine, Surgery, Neurology, Oncology, Cardiology, Radiology, Dermatology, and Emergency teams 
  •  Maintain detailed referral documentation within the hospital information system 
  •  Identify workflow improvements that enhance efficiency and communication 
  •  Support hospital growth initiatives and community outreach efforts 
This is not an entry-level position.

We're looking for someone who understands veterinary medicine and enjoys building meaningful professional relationships.
Required Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience working in a Veterinary Hospital 
  •  Strong understanding of veterinary medical terminology 
  •  Exceptional communication and customer service skills 
  •  Outstanding organizational and time-management abilities 
  •  Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment 
  •  Comfortable speaking with veterinarians, technicians, clients, and hospital leadership 
  •  Experience utilizing veterinary practice management software 
Highly Preferred
  • Specialty or Emergency Veterinary Hospital experience
  •  Previous experience as a: 
    • Veterinary Referral Coordinator
    • Referral Relationship Manager
    • Veterinary Client Service Supervisor
    • Lead Veterinary Receptionist
    • Veterinary Receptionist

  •  Experience coordinating referrals between General Practice and Specialty hospitals 
  •  Bilingual English and Spanish is a plus
