Job Title : Forklift Operator
Industry : Food Manufacturing
Location : Elk River, MN 55330
Type : Full-time permanent
Job Description:
Under the general direction of the Warehouse Manager, the Forklift Operator is responsible for moving, stacking, and unloading materials, parts, or products using electric or reach forklifts. This role supports various departments based on business needs.
Key Responsibilities
  • Promote a safe work environment through personal actions; identify safety concerns and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Load and unload trailers per SOP, including product inspection, sorting, and temperature monitoring.
  • Transport raw and finished goods to support receiving, picking, and shipping functions.
  • Maintain product organization in racks with proper wrapping and stacking.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties per daily, weekly, and monthly checklists.
  • Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and safety protocols.
  • Ensure regular, punctual attendance in line with ADA, FMLA, and applicable regulations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor or manager.
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience operating stand-up and sit-down forklifts in a manufacturing (preferably food) environment.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Basic computer literacy; familiarity with Microsoft Office and inventory/ERP systems.
  • Able to work independently, manage deadlines, and maintain a positive attitude.
  • Ability to follow instructions and standard procedures.
Food Safety Responsibilities
  • Inspect trailers before loading/unloading to ensure shipment integrity (including temperature and identity preservation for Organic/Kosher status).
  • Follow GMPs to prevent cross-contamination and allergen contact.
  • Accurately complete required documentation during receiving.
  • Work closely with QA team to report any food safety or quality issues.
  • Comply with company-wide GMPs applicable to all personnel.
Physical Requirements
  • Stand for up to 10 hours per day.
  • Walk, reach, use hands, talk, and hear frequently.
  • Sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as needed.
  • Frequently lift/move items up to 50 pounds.
  • Comfortable working at heights for pallet put-away using forklifts.
  • Vision requirements include close, distance, peripheral vision, and focus adjustment.
