General Purpose of Job:
Under the direct supervision of the clinical and technical staff, he or she will assist them with procedures, escorting patients and parents, and facilitating with the workflow. He or she will provide support to technical staff by assisting in the positioning and immobilization of patients undergoing procedures. He or she is responsible for transporting the patient and/or parent to and from the Radiology Department.
The Radiology Assistant will perform other related duties as deemed necessary.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive; employees will perform other reasonably related business duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor and/or hospital administration as required.
  • Maintains utmost level of confidentiality at all times.
  • Adheres to hospital policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates business practices and personal actions that are ethical and adhere to corporate compliance and integrity guidelines.
  • Demonstrates professionalism in dealing with patients and families regarding questioning, explanation of procedures, transportation, etc.
  • Greets patients and families cordially and answers questions as appropriate relating to the procedure.
  • Correctly identifies patient to be transported for examination by checking patient ID band against request/orders.
  • Transport patient or family to and from Radiology by wheelchair, stretcher or in arms.
  • Responsible for patient safety throughout their visit in Radiology and while being transported to and from the unit.
  • MRI Safety Training required annually.
  • Radiation Safety Training required annually.
  • Assist in moving the patient to and from the exam table.
  • Under the direction of a registered technical or clinical staff member, the assistant can assist with positioning the patient for and exam(s).
  • Cleans equipment with appropriate germicidal solution following an exam.
  • Burns patient exams onto a CD if asked.
  • Answers telephone, taking special requests and information.

Education and/or Experience:
  • Entry-Level position. High School Diploma.
  • CPR preferred but not mandatory
